Airbase.dat

General discussion for CFS2 - WW 2 Pacific Theater

Airbase.dat

Postby Smoke2much » Wed Apr 14, 2004 7:47 am

I have added some airbases to the European area of CFS2 and need to modify my Airbases.dat and need to know if there is a quick way of doing this, or do I have to visit each airfield and find the info manually?

Cheers Doug (I know, I'm a cheeky git)

Hi Will. I'm a tad rusty with this stuff. It would depend on the scenery & who designed it. Some scenery designers include the info you need with their files. With others you would need to go to the airfield in CFS2 & note the co-ords.

It should only be necessary to add airfields to airbases.dat for the Advance Info function to work in imported missions* using them or any missions you create yourself with the MB.

*PS. In this case the airbases.dat entries should be included with the missions.

It shouldn't be that bad. You would only need airbases.dat entries for airfields used as bases in missions. I think we used about 6 entries out of the 100 odd available for the 2 Fox Four campagns so far. There will be another 3 to add for the Communist bases when we get round to it.

The major problem with this whole development thing is that the campaign I have in mind is relatively simple. The amount of graft that is required to write it is beyond belief.  Thanks for your help Doug

Hi Will,
This is old tblan , I don't guess this helps much but  I
downloaded the Fox Four Korean pack, and in that they
had a airbase.dat file that had all the cfs2 Airbase.dat
plus all the airbase.dat for thier pack. all I had to do is
back up the org file and save it, and install thier Airbase
.dat file. but they said that if you tryed to install the new
Airbases your self to be very careful, be cause if you did
not get it right it could cause problems?

Thats all I can say about that.
                     Wish I could help more.
