Longtime CFS3, CFS2 caght my eye a few questions

I have had CFS3 for a while now but I started looking at CFS2

After looking at a few websites it seemed as if CFS2 was everything that CFS3 never had but I always wanted, like landing on an aircraft carrier!

I am really thinking about buying the game. (I cant help it I have to think about everything I want to buy, I think it runs in the family)

I was just wondering what you guys think about the game, is it worth it after having CFS3 for such a long time, is it better then CFS3?

and I had a few question how many aircraft are there?

Do you guys have CFS3, If so do you just stick with just one, or do they both have somethings you like and dislike?

Is it true you can use Flight Simulator aircraft with CFS2?(I have Flight Sim 2004, but I heard you can use CFS2 files with Flight Simulator 2002)

I would say get it.

The whole world is modelled and all it needs is the airports placing.  I feel that it is a better simulator and the graphics are easier for your system to cope with.

The number of downloads available is massive with campaigns, aircraft and other stuff galore.

Hi

You should be able to pick up CFS2 very cheaply now, so its not too big a decision  ;).

As already mentioned, there is a huge range of freeware add-ons.

Cheers Paul

I've been calling around and a lot of the stores don't have it anymore.

I even checked Walmart.com, and its out of stock!!!

I didn't think there were so many people buying it now adays, they got plenty of copies of CFS3 though,

either way I still have to wait for Gainward to get off their lazy @$$3$ and send me my Video Card back.

I called them a few times but I am not trying to be mean but I cannot understand a word the guy is saying!!! Plus the guys never there

ps, how many airplanes come with the game, the M$ website says their is only 6 or so, is this true (I know you can dload a lot more, but im just curious)

Hello Randombeaner,

There's 7 player flyable aircraft and 10 AI controlled aircraft. The beauty of it is that you can download a set of airfiles that will make the AI aircraft player flyable, so in essence there's 17 aircraft at your disposal  ;D

Stratobat

If you can find it, buy it!! As mentioned before, with the tons of add ons you can get and the whole world at your disposal to fly in, it is the best all around flight sim out there.

You can download bases so as to cover the globe. Just about any acft. is available for download that you might want. FS2k acft. work without a worry and most of the FS2k2 do also.

With texture add ons and Mesh scenery available you can take the already fine looking graphics of CFS2 and enhance it even further.

Go for it, I honestly believe once you get into CFS2 and some online flying, you will do as many have and use CFS3 as a coaster.

I'm an avid out & out CFS2 nut!  :D

If you've got anything like a mid end p3 with an half decent 32MB 3D card, welcome to Combat Flight Heaven.

Trawl the CFS2 downloads section, get stuck in.
In a few years from now, our Pentium 6's may just run CFS3 from the

and you can land on AC Carriers,

This is officially everything CFS3 never was but always wanted to be ;D

I ran to a few stores, couldn't find them, I'll buy it tommorow but I'll look for it online

Now I just have to wait for my Video Card to come, right now I'm stuck with my lousy Radeon 7000!

Whoo ho its here!!!
I tried it out with video on 6 and I got amazing Framerates, I even got up to 70 FPS sometimes. The game looks really cool it has that tropical feel to it!

I only got to play it for a little while buy I feel like modding already, I tried a few AC carrier lands and they are harder then I thought, I got a little bored and bombed my own AC carrier!!!

a few things I noticed though
Spot view is extremely disorienting

There is nothinng on the ground, no trees no force, no tanks, well at least in quick combat mode.

There is nothing in QC mode to bomb!!!

There is no groun attack either.

Just a few things I've noticed, I havent played much though.

Since I don't have CFS2, I won't debate with it.

You can also try IL-2: Forgotten Battles.

However, for a game like this, you have to be the kind of simmer who likes to fly RUSSIAN, and GERMAN planes. At least it comes with a P-47 Thunderbolt and a P-39 Cobra for a taste of satisfaction.

The latest patches allow for only 2 Japanese fighters, and a US Mustang. However, I am NOT interested in those. I like RUSSIAN planes. They are so awesome and kick-@55.

It costed me only $20 USD [bought online] plus shipping and handing. It's a small price to pay if you don't like the sim.

If you want to play online, don't be surprised to see a lot of German and other European players over there. Remember, UBI Soft is a European company that made the game. ;D

welcome aboard randombeaner  ;)

Correct, there is nothing on the ground in quick combat.

QC is purly for fighter on fighter/bomber action.

But you can get/ create missions with as much ground/ sea action as you can handle. Then you can bomb and ground attack as much as you like!

CFS3 is based on the post D-Day period once air supremerse was won and ground attack of the retreating Germans was the major airbourne action and this is reflected in the richness of ground targets, etc.

CFS2 is based on the whole Pacific campaign post Pearl Harbor (I'll even spell it wrong for those of you on the wrong side of the Atlantic!) and is thus based more on the battle for air supremousy and therefore less ground targets especiaaly as lots of it happened of the big blue sea!

I'm glad you are enjoying the sim. The best news is you have several hundred very fine planes from all over the world to download and fly plus hundreds of missions/ campaigns to try!

Have fun.
