Getting DPED is the proper way to do it. If you're willing to settle for a quick and dirty method you can try this. Select a similar plane from your existing fleet and copy the DP file for that plane into the FS2000 plane's folder.
For example, I downloaded an FS2000 Spitfire that came without weapons. I copied the DP file from a CFS2 Spitfire, placed it into the new Spit's folder, renamed it and it works fine. If you're not a purist this is an easy way to add guns to FS2000 planes.
You MUST rename the DP file to match the name of the FS2000 plane's AIR file. In other words if the FS2000 plane has an AIR file named spitmkv.air and the DP file you are copying is named spitfire.dp, you must change the name of the DP file to spitmkv.dp for it to work properly.
You probably still want to get DPED as it will allow you to do so much with all of your DP files but this method works fine as a quick fix.
