I should know this, but I don't. ::) Where do you get the jet sounds for CFS2 so you can install jet aircraft?

Sorry for sounding stupid :(

Hi Jonathan.

The CFS2 Jet Sounds are posted here. http://www.simviation.com/cfs2misc1.htm
This is simply a Lear45 "Converter" folder for aliasing to as used in CFS1.

You can use any jet sounds you wish. Install them to each separate aircraft - or configured as a Converter folder. Install this in the same way as an aircraft with a parent folder containing just the Sound subfolder. Rename the parent folder to Lear45 for most aliased jet fighters to use. You could also have another one named B737_400 to take care of the heavies.

First make sure the Lear45 folder is installed to CFS2\AIRCRAFT. It should have a Sound subfolder contaning the WAV files & a Sound.cfg.
Next open Sound.cfg of each jet & make sure it's aliased to the Lear45.
If that doesn't fix it the problem has to be the panel. If it's aliased, re-alias it to a default aircraft or delete the Panel.cfg. You can find a suitable panel for it later if you wish. That should do it.

Thanks very much, it's a real help ;)

However the aircraft I am trying to install has its own Sound and Panel that comes with it. I will try backing those up and aliasing it.

OK, I have aliased the Sound and the Panel to aircraft that I know work. But this Eurofighter is still refusing to work. I really am stumped now...

If it has its own panel & sound it shouldn't need aliasing. Tell me exactly where to get the aircraft & I'll check it out myself.

The aircraft is the Eurofighter on http://www.simviation.com/cfs2mod10.htm.

Thanks.

Ack. I see the problem - I think. The Model, Panel, Sound & Texture folders are all zipped up. When you extract them they are all hidden inside another folder. For example Eurofighter\model\model - not Eurofighter\model as it should be.

You need to go in one stage further than usual to find the actual folders, then move them to where they should be. Cut each one, go up one stage & Paste overwriting the existing folder. I'm sure this will fix it. Haven't tried it in CFS2 yet.

Works for me. Just like I said. Try it again from scratch. It's listed on the menu as RAF Eurofighter Typhoon.
Sorry about the quality of the shot. ::)

PS. Not too sure it's worth the bother. Just my opinion. :o

OK, thanks Doug. It is listed as RAF Eurofighter Typhoon, but it doesnt show up. I'm not sure it's worth the bother, but all the other jets do exactly the same thing. I'll do them again from scratch and see what happens.

Thanks,

Tell me how you get on. There shouldn't be a problem with them just cos they're jets. Providing they're installed properly & show up on the menu they should work.

I noticed the Eurofighter is hidden inside another folder when you unzip it just like the subfolders. Make sure you have all the files & subfolders in the right parent folder.

Jonathan. I'm a stubborn old fool & don't give up easily. I won't be happy until you fix this so I've been giving it some thought.

First of all it might be best to delete all those jets that don't work & start again. It's quite possible you have 2 of the same aircraft installed which would cause a conflict. Make sure you have that Lear45 folder installed correctly & start again. The Eurofighter won't be ideal due to the way it's configured. Pick any other jet from the CFS2 section & try that.

You haven't mentioned it but if you're getting any kind of error messages it's quite likely you have too many aircraft installed. This would explain your problem. If the number of folders in CFS2\AIRCRAFT is anywhere near 90 try deleting or moving some. The easiest method is to create a Hangar subfolder in CFS2\AIRCRAFT & drag some into it. Don't move or delete any default aircraft. Hope this helps.

PS. If all else fails try "The Hunters" campaign from the link in my signature. This is self-contained & auto-install. The 3 small downloads include the Jet Base file + all the files you need. I configured & tested the files myself & know it works. We have had very few complaints, mainly caused by people not reading the instructions. 100s of satisfied customers can't be wrong. ;)
