Hi Staiduk. Only one if the Fox Four team uses force feedback. Consequently we know very little about it. In fact, various bugs spotted by a beta tester caused by our flight dynamics & FF was one of the more difficult & annoying things we had to fix.

The Panther is the only one of our aircraft that is not our own design. Tweaking the FD to suit our requirements for use in the campaigns did not go down too well with the original designer but I hope we came to a satisfactory agreement. We decided to create all our own stuff in future to avoid this sort of thing. This will inevitably delay the release of future campaigns. You might find the original Panther or the AvHistory 1% version works better for your purposes.

Happy New Year from Fox Four. ;)

PS. Our jets have the FS2000 spool up parameters removed from the AIR files. We didn't consider lengthy engine startup procedures necessary for use in the campaigns.

Hi Hagar; actually, I like the Panther you're using just as it is - truly great. A rough plane to handle - I like that. ;D
I'll look for the one you mentioned; didn't see one last I was there. I think I've solved the control on the Saber (again; not that I thought there was anything wrong with yours; I'm just tweak-happy. ;) )
Starting from a fresh .air file; I reduced aileron effectiveness and roll stability to minimums and reduced roll inertia by 50%. - that gave a real twitchy response with plenty of momentum to overcome. Then; I started bringing up roll stability and the variable I completely forgot about earlier - roll damper - simultaneously; bit by bit adding 'weight' to the ailerons. Works great now; almost perfect, just have to tweak a bit more in the 'control effectiveness' fields; so it doesn't roll too much at high speeds - 500kts.+.
Elevators I'm still tweaking - they're a bit harder to deal with. ::)
Ideally; I'm working to have an aircraft that's fun and easy to fly; great (if challenging) in combat, but will bite hard if mis-handled; like a real aircraft will. ;)
Totally stumped on the engine, though. ;)
(Although; I must say the soundpack from Ed Wilson's Red Bull MiG-15 is marvellous for the F-86. :) )

On a related note:
'Exploding Jets' phenomenon: I find that by increasing the 'Positive' and 'negative' G-limit fields to realistic levels works great. They seem to roughly correspond to G-levels; i.e. '9477' = about 9.5G for a few seconds before she goes 'boom'. So; I set 'positive1' to 9500, Neg1' to -2800, 'pos2' to '7500', 'neg2' to -1200. (I assume pos2 and neg2 are for damaged airframes; but that's a guess.) :)
Result: Jet doesn't explode at every twitch of the stick; but you really start sweating in a 300kt. turning fight with a MiG - if the plane was real; you'd be hearing those wingroots go 'Whiiiiiine!!!' LOL

P.S. - just saw your addition about the engine spool-up. Any way for me to put 'em back in? ;)

LMAO Staiduk. It strikes me you're busy undoing what it took us something like 8 months of hard work & headscratching to achieve. That's up to you of course but I'm not sure that Mike would be too pleased. In fact I'm certain of it. :o ::) :o

If you really want all that engine spool up stuff I suggest downloading Fang's original FS2000 version of his F-86. You would also need proper sound files to go with it.

Again; I hope I'm not annoying anyone, this is for my own interest; nothing more - different people; different ideas, and all that. If I am; I'm honestly sorry about that, IMO the Fox 4 jets are the best available for CFS2; I have a lot of admiration for the amount of work that went into it. As a long-time modder myself (in other games); I know how much goes into it. Looking back on it; I think I should've just kept the question general; rather than discussing specific jets - this is a common problem I've been toying with; I just was tinkering with this one because it's my favourite aircraft.

FWIW; the .air file's finished; now very smooth and realistic-feeling at all speeds. Thanks for your help; I'll shut up now. :)

No offence taken. I'm flattered that you like our work. You're perfectly entiled to do what you like with it - for your own use. :D

PS. I usually ask people to mail one of us direct about any problems or suggestions. It might not be such a good idea to mail Mike on this occasion. He tends to be a little abrupt at times. ;)
