Further to the Lightspeed discussion!

Postby Professor Brensec » Thu Dec 11, 2003 10:16 pm

I would seem to have stumbled onto a previously untapped feature of the B29 bomber.

It was apparently capable of speeds approaching 2,000,000 knots (as per my screenshot).

I know it's far from light speed, but certainly a step in the right direction.

Can someone please explain this inexplicable need for my CFS2 Sim to go absolutely 'apesh*t' for no apparent reason!

Wormhole is as good a theory as any ;) I think a reinstall may be in order, unless you enjoy chasing Klingon battle cruisers in your B-29 that is Prof.

I did a re-install last week, after the first incident that saw my P40 at 53,000 knots and my P51-B at 89,000 ft.

It doesn't seem to have made any difference!  ;D ;)

It doesn't bother me that much, as it only occurs very occasionally, and it is actually a novelty, except that I can't help 'overshooting' the target (by a continent or two)!  ;) :D

Fortunately, it seems to always set an 'altitude autopilot' hold at 2,000 ft, which is handy, otherwise the slightest 'feather touch' on the stick would either put me into the ground or into orbit!!  ;D ;)

Have you guys tried taking the freeware Alphasim Kfir to 100 000 Ft. It makes it, all the way  ;)

I've also had the lightspeed problem, but I find it only happens when I'm flying jets.

Regards,
Stratobat

I got to 3000 000ft, yes 3 million ft.  That is a third of the way to the moon.

sorry i meant a third of the earths radius away from earth, not to moon.
The moon is 382 686 000ft from earth
100 000 ft is the edge of Earths atmosphere.

I still think 3 000 000ft is the highest anyone has been with an aircraft in the fs series without a space craft.
