Would it

Anish. It is possible to manually tweak the MDL file of some FS2002 aircraft to work in CFS2. The tute is posted in the SimV Help & Support section. This has certain limitations & to be honest I've found it's not worth the bother.

Most FS2000 aircraft & helos work well in CFS2. They would need a DP & the MDL file patching with the MDL Converter Tool for external weapons to display & function. Aircraft created with Gmax & FSDS2 specifically for CFS2 are even better.

Nope, not worth the trouble, I spent days converting FS2002 Planes to CFS2 & only a vast majority actually work fine,
last but not least, after converting the alpha textures, You get
an ugly plane, looks like aircraft from early flight sims
best advise, stick w/ CFS2 Aircaft, and some FS2000 aircraft

Guys, I think it would be simpler to build an aircraft in G-max for Cfs2 than convert, unless you fiddle with the programing as Hagar said.

Thanks guys;

I'll give it a try anyway. First I'll get the sim though ;D

One more question: Does fs2002 DEFAULT scenery display as well as that of fs2000 ?

Thanks,
Anish

I doubt the FS2002 default scenery is compatible with CFS2. I wouldn't advise trying it. FS2002 default files are not generally compatible with earlier sims. If you do get CFS2 use FS2000 stuff or files created specifically for it.

Hello Everybody

It really isn't hard to get FS 2002 aircraft to work properly in CFS 2, but like Hagar said... you need to manually tweak the MDL file. The textures and aircraft.cfg also have to be altered, but the end product is worth it  :)

Now I'll try it out for myself. Lets see what happens  :)

Thanks for the response anyway;

Good one Stratobat. ;)

I assume your shot was taken in Free Flight. Please try it as an AI aircraft in QC or a mission & tell me if it works.

Do you mean AI aircraft are also supported in CFS2 ?? :o I thought only fs2002 had them !?  :o ???

Anish. AI aircraft were first used in CFS1. These are the wingmen & enemy aircraft in QC & missions. The AI traffic in FS2002 uses the same basic principles.

Hagar... Yip, that shot was taken in Free Flight. I've never tried the aircraft in QC or in a mission... Will have to check that out  :)

Hagar... Here's a pic of the Texan in QC, both as an AI aircraft and player flyable aircraft. I used JoneSoft CFS Quick Combat Editor to get the aircraft to work as an AI aircraft.
