will it run smoother? should do, less in the way of buildings and other scenery to hog the frame rates, runs alot smoother for me.
is it better? thats really a personal preferance thing, in my opinion not really, but thats because i am more interested in flying civilian jets, does it take anything away from the game no, its still great fun, and online dog fights are great fun especially the simv dog fights when they would work properly

I like FS2002 for the airports and flight plans etc., but I like CFS2 because whenever you get bored with flying straight and level, you can swoop down and blow something up! :D
As for running smoother, I couldn't tell you as I have really slow internet and can't really play on-line, so I don't really study framerates. But they both run fine for me.
CFS2 is cool though, you would enjoy it!

Hi
On my system fs2002 around 20-30fps dropping to 7 around big city's mid settings
CFS2 50-75 dropping to 15 when full of smoke, flak and dogfighting aircraft settings maxed out
both in 1024X768 res
