P-47 cheated in CFS2?

I downloaded a number of P-47s and in every instance was disappointed with the performance of the .air file.

I just finished a book by a P-47 pilot and read a number of articles about it. I got every indication it was not the most maneuverable fighter but still very capable.

My CFS2 P-47s were nothing like that. Helpless as a 4 engine bomber against any other fighter. I couldn't even "Boom and Zoom" because I couldn't turn around in time to face the enemy. So I edited the .air file. Now it turns fast for about 90 degrees then falters. It gains speed quickly to about 400mph then slowly to 425 after that and climbs reasonably well. I still don't try to turn with other fighters with it but "Boom and Zoom" very effectively with it.

I'm slightly guilty about it given the general performance of so many other .air files, but I feel this gives the plane justice. So should I feel guilty about this .air file edit?

all depends on which P-47's You've tried, Myself, I like the 1_US ( 1% ) & the FDG 47, both D Models, now if Your talking about later Models than the D Series, those were Much more manueverable

I think I tried the FDG and 1% P-47Ds ( I downloaded at least 6 different ones ) and liked everything about them except the .air file. Any of the P-47s I downloaded were totally outmaneuvered and out "boom and zoomed" by C. Muir's Beaufighter and the Blond_Knights bf110 (I switched roles to check this thoroughly). In fact, I don't think I ever got the 1% P-47 to exceed 360mph. I think the worst I found turned a complete circle in 40 seconds! Helpless as a kitten!

I finally settled on an .air file closest to what I expected and edited that - then used it in Krystof Malinowsky's P-47D-25.

I love the Jug too, and I do just fine.  I have all of Malinowsky's P-47s ( ;D) and I can hold my own in a dogfight, full realism.  I like to fly the N models 8 on 8.  My wingmen will get a few zeros so will I.  But then All my guys get shot down and so do I because its 4 on 1.   :'(  I didn't care much for FGD's thunderbolts, I just liked that I could easily repaint them.
