
I had to check. Ok, there a couple of other things we can try. I'm going to explain everything as if you have never worked with them before simply because I'm not sure how much you've worked with these things. Forgive me if I seem to be insulting your intelligence. It's not intended.
Firstly, if your MB has onboard sound, make sure it's disabled in the 'System' section of the control panel.
Secondly, from control panel, open the 'sounds and multimedia' section, click the 'Audio' tab and click the 'Advanced' button in the 'Sound Playback' section. In the 'Advanced Audio Properties' window, Click the 'Performance' tab. There are two sliders you can play with. Try setting the 'Hardware Acceleration' one to 'None' and then test.
