Can Not Change Filtering Under Display Settings Please Help

Postby A_and_P » Sat Jan 31, 2015 12:11 pm

Cannot enable hardware acceleration or make filter changes under Advanced 3-D hardware options. So the scenery looks like square tiles since the filtering is wrong.

Operating System Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
GPU x 2 GTX 780s S.C. Editions SLI No.
CFS-2 installed on D: Drive.

Tried installing and un installing CFS-2 and drivers several times.
Control Panel/Uninstall Programs/Nivida Graphics driver 347.25 uninstall. Close Control panel.
Open My Computer: C: Drive/Nvidia Folder/ right click & Delete Nvidia Folder
Boot Computer
Right click Nvidia graphics driver run as administrator/Selective Install/3 D Vision No/Nvidia Sound No/G Force Experience No. Installing the Nvidia Driver only. Boot Computer
Open My Computer: C: Drive/Nvidia Folder/ right click & Delete Nvidia Folder. The Nvidia folder is not required before or after installing Nvidia drivers.

Displays 1 x HP 2710m is Display number 1 & 1 x Benq 2420z display number 2. Tried by disconnecting display number 2 from the 2nd GPU and doing a fresh Driver install and CFS-2. Same Issue.

Device
Display Driver is selected.
Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 (\\\Display19)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 (\\\Display23)

Have two original sets of disk 1 & 2 for CFS-2 and both sets when installed having the same issue.

Have you tried installing it anywhere OTHER THAN in C:\Program Files (x86)?

Thank you for responding.

Cleaned the D: Drive thru Elevated Commnad Prompt Clean All to wipe the possibility of any left over installs. Formated the hard drive Disk Management NTFS 1024.

Then Installed back to the D: Drive and confirmed the installation in REGEDIT.

The path is correct. I tried installing an older Nvidia Driver. Same error cannot make changes in the User Interface to select Hardware acceleration or make changes to Filtering.

Disconnected the second monitor did a fresh installation of CFS-2 and tried D: Drive and then C: Drive again.

Same issue cannot select filtering.

This really has me baffled to what is causing the issue.

Damn. Certainly looks like a game/video card problem.

I don't have Combat Flight Simulator. I was just throwing in my two cents.

If someone here doesn't come along to help soon, keep searching on Google.

Sorry I couldn't help more. Good luck.

Hi, I am running cfs2 on win7 x64 just fine
I have a fix for you.

open cfs2.cfg file with notepad and edit the following entries

[MAIN]
RUNNINGBADHW=0 <-----set to 0 to enable hardware acceleration)

[DISPLAY]
Device=NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 (\\.\DISPLAY1) <------ verify your video card id
Mode=1920x1080x32 <------- set to your resolution
AntiAlias=1 <------- set to 1 to enable
HWTnL=1 <------- set to 1 to enable
Anisotropic=1 <------- set to 1 to enable

the cfs2 settings menu, "enable hardware acceleration" will still show un-checked and greyed out
but it does work.

enjoy 8-)

The Display Script is not being written to the CFS2.CFG file.

Added the script per your directions and by the way thank you for your help.

Old CFG file with GPU 580s installed. The Old CFS2 folder is not I in stalled but saved to my Documents. Re Named the CFS2 folder to OldCFS2Old.
ShowLogo=0
ShowMovie=1
RUNNINGBADHW=0

HideMenuFullscreen=1
Maximized=0

Below Sound

[DISPLAY]
Device=NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580
Mode=1920x1080x32

New CFS2.CFG file (This is a fresh install with GPUs GTX 780s) Added the Display script. The display script is not being written when installing CFS2.

[MAIN]**************Being written when installing CFS2********************
ShowLogo=1

Device=NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (\\.\DISPLAY1)

After adding the Display script it is to my regret to say issue with textures is the same. Really appreciate your help and hope you have some other recommendations? One thing for sure something is broken???

Thank You

may I suggest you delete the cfs2.cfg file,
connect only your main display,
restart the game and let it build a new cfg file.
exit game and edit the new cfg file as instructed.

I suspect this line is still wrong

Device=NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (\\.\DISPLAY1)

this is what gave me problems too but I got it working

I found I forgot to mention a line in the cfg file.

[DISPLAY]
Disable=0 <----- this line enables HW ACC (sorry)

mine is working again after I added this line

No need to be sorry really appreciate your help. :clap: I apologize for the long post trying to get my head around the issue.

1. Disconnected the second monitor.
2. Nvidia Control Panel Disabled SLI
3. Deleted the CFS2.cfg file
4. Started CFS-2 the CFS2.CFG file was written.
5.***This time Display [DISPLAY] was written for the first time, may be getting closer to the issue**********.
Device=NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780
Mode=640x480x16
Disable=0**********Changed from 1 to 0. If my memory is correct 1=True___0=False
5. Checked Main

[MAIN]
ShowLogo=1
RUNNINGBADHW=0***************Should this be 1 for true to turn on Hardware accelerator? **********

6. Saved the CFS2.CFG file
7. Opened CFS2.cfg file and verified the settings was saved.
8. Started CFS2*****Sorry same issue.************

Possible Issues:

Looking at the settings in the OS:

start/Control Panel/Tap Personalization/Tap Display/Tap Change Display Settings/Monitor 1 Is detected. Not an issue/Tap Advanced Settings/Adapter GTX 780 is showing Not an Issue/Tap troubleshoot Tab/Tap Change Settings is Grayed Out. ****Possible issue****You should be able to adjust the Hardwae Accelerator or turn Off under advanced settings. You cannot grey out this Box according to Microsoft and Window seven forums. Unless the GTX 780 turns it off or you manually turn it off and make changes in the REGEDIT TREE has not been done. Aero checked the settings is not disabled. Cannot figure out why the setting for Hardware accelerator is Greyed out? Possible broken thread?
I have not had that happen with a GTX 580 uses the same driver as a GTX 780. Nvidia drivers are reverse compatiable.

Tried This out of curiosity:

Start/Control Panel/Tap Performance Information and Tools/Tap Rate This Computer/Message reads an error look at attached JPEG image below. This does not make since. Have tested all of the hardware using MemTest86 and ran Prime 95 for 24 hours on a 4.6 GHz OC in offset mode with out issues. Installing CFS2 at 3.3GHz not over clocked. Socket LGA 2011 CPU 4930K. Aero checked the settings is not disabled.

Followed your guide again. I for got to change the Config file
[DISPLAY]
Device=NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 to read 780. The squares went away and the textures looked correct. The resolution needed to be reset.

Still cannot tick Accelrated Hardware for some reason is fine don't care at this point.

Then discovered if I change the display settings using the interface too 1920 x 1080 see square tiles for some reason is causing a second issue. Opened the cfs2 config file and changed the resolution to 1920 x 1080. see below.

[MAIN]
ShowLogo=0
ShowMovie=1
RUNNINGBADHW=0
Location=0,0,1920,1080 **********This is the resolution set Manually in config. Cannot change with the interface must be manually set too 1920 x 1080
HideMenuNormal=0
HideMenuFullscreen=1
Maximized=0

Capt_Cronic would not have figured out the issue with out your help. :clap: :dance:

Thank
Larry

glad u got it fixed.

the problem is cfs2 is old and does not recognize newer hardware.
video changes must be made to the config file only.
the display settings in the game menu will still show incorrect resolution and you wont be able to check the box, but it works.
also, if you try to change a setting in the display menu, the game will overwrite your changes in the config file.
then your back to square 1 again. (no pun intended lol)

Very funny "back to square one" LOL again thank you for the help.

Exactly what created the issue. 580 Hydro GPUs X-58 board not an issue. Built this system LGA 2011 and installed GTX 780s created the issue.

Thank You
