Dual Install

Postby starlifter5 » Sat Nov 16, 2013 8:58 pm

OK I give up. I've tried searching for this for a half hour. Wasn't there a thread at one time that described how to perform a dual install of CFS2? I'm referring to the scenerio of having two separate installs for European and Pacific theaters. Or perhaps I'm imagining things. :?

Do an install,,,rename desktop shortcut to CFS2_PTO or ???.
Do a second install and when the sim asks where it's to go,,,list a different program directory.
Rename shortcut to CFS2_ETO or ???.

I wrote this several years ago in the FAQ for the Fox Four campaigns:

DUPLICATE INSTALL of CFS2 (or any other MS sim)

To do this, simply rename the existing CFS2 root directory folder to any other name.
Then insert the CD & install in the usual way.
You will now have two separate versions of CFS2 which will run independently.

Thanks guys. That sounds easy enough. I performed searches for words like "dual" and "double", but I forgot about "duplicate", Sorry to bother you guys with easy stuff. I'm building a "sim only" desktop out of old parts and I couldn't remember how that installation was done. Thanks again. :D

I have 3 different installs.

one for each of my favorite theaters of operation. WWI, Korea, and also a test/mission building setup.

I've had as many as 6. It comes down to how much Hard drive space you want to use.

Oh I also have a copy of FS2002 pro. though mostly used for aircraft development now.
