Win7 Problem

General discussion for CFS2 - WW 2 Pacific Theater

First Ty for getting back on this.
second i tried rolling back my driver with no luck and i tried the security also with out any luck. I'm wondering if it could be in my sound card (also intergraded i believe) it seems to not want to load. i'll experiment with that and see what happens. the other issue maybe the panels (which aren't loading btw) again i'll tinker with this. is the panel editor for CFS2 and FS2002 still around? i had everything on my other comp and haven't had the time (or money) to recover it all.

let me know if any of this seems plossible of if i'm just spinning my wheels.

again ty

While I'm pondering the rest of the problem, you can pickup the CfgEdit panel utility here:

http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=cfgedit-install.exe&x=21&y=8  :)

I'm afraid that I'm fresh out of ideas on what the root problem might be.   Wish I could be of more help.  :'(

I would strongly recommend getting NVIDIA drivers directly from the NVIDIA website.

I have seen & had too many problems with video drivers from Microsoft in the past.  :-/

ok i have some good news and some bad news. i was able to get the aircraft to work. but i have a problem still. it seems that the panel is the problem. i took out the line

[VIEWS]
view_forward_WINDOWS=%window_title_00%
VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=2.6, 0.0, 0.0
from the F86E panel. and saved (note it saved as a word doc-this might be the issue which i'll test later)
then i went and started the sim. now the panel still did not load but the rest of the aircraft functioned fine. so i think its either my graphics card having trouble with the 1024 panels or its in the file format. not sure which but i'll keep looking. it is a conflict involving the panel and my systems setup. i'll post when i have more.

ok removeing that line did nothing but changing the panel name form panel to panel.2 is what disabled it. so its one of 2 things. either my comp can't handle the CFG or it can't handle the 1024x768 .bmps for the panel background.

that is what i have discovered thus far. is there a lower res copy of this panel or maybe another CFG file for it.

if any of the FoxFour crew could give thier input that would be great.

i may just have to make my own or find away for my comp to read the CFG.

oh here is another tidbit. all of my cfg files show up as a microsoft office outlook configureation file. would that do anything?

Hi PL. I can't think why the panels should be giving problems as the default panels are in 1024x768 resolution. You could try aliasing the F-86E panel to one of the default aircraft as an experiment to see if that makes any difference. I can post a Panel.cfg for you to download if you don't know how to do it.

i took out the line

[VIEWS]
view_forward_WINDOWS=%window_title_00%
VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=2.6, 0.0, 0.0
from the F86E panel. and saved (note it saved as a word doc-this might be the issue which i'll test later)
then i went and started the sim. now the panel still did not load

The file should be saved under the original name - Panel.cfg. Open CFG files in Notepad for editing. (See my comments below.) After editing click the X at top right of the window to exit Notepad saving changes when prompted.

oh here is anothe tidbit. all of my cfg files show up as a microsoft outlook configureation file. would that do anything?

Your CFG files have somehow become associated with Outlook. This will not affect them in any way but I suggest re-associating them with Notepad. This will make everything easier when you wish to edit a CFG file.

Right-click on any CFG file & select Properties.
Where it says 'Opens with:' click the Change button.
Select Notepad from the list of programs & then click OK.
Cliick Apply to exit Properties. That should do it.

Please tell me if this is any help.

ok i realiased the panel. and it loaded fine. so here is the problem than. now what is the solution. i'm going to resize the BMPs and make copies then try the panel again. i'm also going to double check to make certain all of the guages are in my guage folder. its probly the stupid ATI vid card (intergraded) wish it was a nividia. i may have to buy one.
well i'll keep you all posted ty for your help.

I think you will run into problems if you resize the panel BMPs. The gauges will no longer fit. Mike's panels use special gauges & I suspect it will mess everything up.

It's been a long time since I messed around with this stuff but I'll give it some thought. I really can't see how an 8-bit BMP can cause all these problems.

ok i have resized the panels. they appear fine. i used the CFG editor and everything is working. i'll do some work to profect it but this seems to fix my issue so far. though every plane is doing this so i don't know if i want to redo all of the FoxFour panels. though it is a start for my comp atleast.

as to you post Hagar, i'm not realy sure why this is happening. but the resize is a start. i have to do some more work to it and then i can give you what i have. its probly something simple that i have to do to my comp. who know.

Just a thought. Which display resolution are you using from CFS2 Advanced Settings?

i was using the 1024x768-32
i'm thinking that maybe there is an issue with how my guages are read. after resizing the panels bmp. i had to resize the guage like you mentioned. what i noticed was that only 4 of the FoxFour KW gauges showed in the CFG editor. so i'm on a hunt now.

i have since dumped my entire CFS2 and reinstalled. i'm going to take one plane, add it and try to figure out what is wrong. wish i had FS design, oh well.

thats where i'm at at this time please feel free to give you input. need all of the help i can get.

ok i have added 1 plane. (oh note as of this install i'm NOT using the noCDpatch) added the guages and put the plane in my aircraft folder, started CFS2 and everything worked fine. so whats the deal? :-/ was it the patch? IDK. i'm going to add a FoxFour plane and see what happens (it should work fine but i want to check out the guage issues i had before). oh also note that the new plane's panels are 1024x768. go figure. :-?

Which aircraft?

No.

I told you that Mike's gauges are special. They might not display like other gauges in CfgEdit.

oh also note that the new plane's panels are 1024x768. go figure. :-?

If I knew which plane it is I could compare the panels.

wish i had FS design, oh well.

FSDS would be no help unless you can sort this out. From what you're saying the problem is with the panels. The aircraft visual models are working fine.

I realised I was wrong about resizing the BMPs. As an experiment I resized the panel BMPs for the KWCFS2_F86E from 1024x768 to 800x600. Leave the Panel.cfg alone. This is the result.

Image

All works fine but the quality suffers. If Mike sees this he won't be too impressed at me for ruining his beautiful panel but if it fixes your problem that's a risk I'm prepared to take. ;)

Note there are 8 BMPs. You must resize them all.

it could be the bmp. kinda getting a headache and going cross eyed at the moment. so let try that panel. and go from there i guess.
