Let's see:

USAAF [glow=yellow,2,300]Air Transport Command [/glow](ATC) was in existence from 1942-1947.

It became the USAF [glow=yellow,2,300]Military Air Transport Service[/glow] (MATS) from 1948-1965.

In 1966, MATS became the USAF [glow=yellow,2,300]Military Airlift Command [/glow](MAC).

Today it is known as the [glow=yellow,2,300]Air Mobility Ciommand[/glow].

That should help us place various skins in the timeline.  8-)

ATC insignia below was previously used by the USAAF Ferry Command from 1941-1942.

A little more info...

The DC-4 made it's first test flight in 1938 and was in production from 1942 until 1946.

The ATC skin that Kristensen did and that I posted was an aircraft that was flying The Hump in 1945.
