Wingmen key commands not working...?

Postby AC26XP » Sun Jun 01, 2008 12:59 am

Tried searching for a solution to this problem, but couldn't find an answer based on the key words I was using...

Regardless in Quick Combat, Single Missions, or Campaigns and regardless if I reset keyboard defaults, use combat key commands (A, R, H, S) or FS/CFS1 commands (SHIFT+7, etc), I cannot get my wingmen to respond when pushing the relevant key commands.

Nor does the text appear on screen.
It had in past, but for some reason it stopped and I cannot figure out why.

Perhaps you need a converter. WW2 communication was analog and you're using digital equipment. Image
You've already tried what first came to mind. You may have to fly WW1 until we find a solution. Of course, they could hand gesture to their wingmen (to the enemy, as well, but those were different gestures).

First, during the game press the Alt key and in the drop-down menus make sure that your radio communication and status messages are turned on.

Second, don't expect much from your wingmen.

I saw you wrote you installed CFS2 with the FS/CFS1 commands. Thats the root of your problem.Uninstall and reinstall with the Key CFS2 command instead of the CFS1 command Keys.

Uh... unfortunately, as I had typed in my initial post, "regardless if I reset keyboard defaults, use combat key commands (A, R, H, S) or FS/CFS1 commands (SHIFT+7, etc), I cannot get my wingmen to respond when pushing the relevant key commands."

Nonetheless, the problem was solved by the in-game ALT menu -> Radio Communication suggestion.
Interesting that this does not appear in the settings pages... or if it does, it did not find me...

My Fox Four colleague Tom Sanford wrote some interesting tips on getting the best out of CFS2 missions. Not sure if this will help. http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2kwfaq2.htm

As a follow-up to the article Hagar mentions, I have had reasonably good luck using a combination of the Split and Attack commands in conjunction with using the targeting brackets.

I'll split my flight as we approach then bracket the first target I want them to hit.
