Do CS2 aircraft work in FS2004, and what about CS3?

Ravang the answer is yes and no. As FS2004, you can install CFS2 in it. My question would be, Why?

I know that CFS2 model are getting better and are of very good quality but you do have some nice planes in FS2004.

FS2004 has so many nice models. why would you want to go through all the trouble of doing that. I have heard its not that easy. You see you are importing a plane from a older engine to newer one. I have heard it does not always work. Maybe Hagar can help you in this matter if you ask him.

As for CFS3 and answer is no. CFS3 is the only Sim in this series that is totaly different from it predecesors. Its has a different engine and format. So you cannot adapt planes from CFS2 and FS2004 into CFS3. You can modify FS2004 planes into CFS2 and that a bit easier than the othe way around. CFS3 also has some nice planes of its own.

I believe its best to fly the planes with a few exceptions in their repective Sims as they where intended to fly in.

This has been a opinion

See i would like to do that because there are 1000's more WWII planes in CS2, than in FS2004.

It is possible with the later models. Look for those created with FSDS2 or Gmax.

If you can do it. go for it. FS2004 is a great Sim and sounds like a lot fun. I still think the planes perform better in the Sim they where intended to be in but perhaps the newer CFS2 planes can be converted with little or no problems. I love this hooby!

Enjoy

You can import your planes from CFS2 to FS2004 very easilly: you just need to take the aircraft folder of the plane you want to import, and drop it in the "Aircraft" folder of FS2004, that's all.

Advantages:
- better rendering: the CFS2 airplanes textures look very good in FS2004

I assumed that Ravang was asking about 3rd party aircraft.

I had understood that, but with the default airplanes I wanted to higlight the main differences (or problems) he could expect from all his CFS2 planes, once imported into FS2004. ;)
PS: and unfortunately, I had no shots of CFS2 addons aircraft to show :P ;)

All I can say is that those screen Shots look real nice. Boy if Microsoft would build a Combat flight Simulator with the quality of FS2004. Boy that would be great. Especially if it included the the World wide diversity and taste in scenenary that are included in FS2004.

Nearly all CFS2 aircraft will work in FS9. However there are some problems like disappearing props and undercarriage. But those are easily addressed and fixed.

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

It has to be said, those CFS2 stock aircraft still look good. :)

Yes indeed.
The fact is that the 3D shapes are not perfect, one can notice some lack of polygons in some places, but the main thing are the textures. They are realy nice, precise and full of details, they do all the job.
