installing with Windows XP

General discussion for CFS2 - WW 2 Pacific Theater

The uninstall for BG looks like it's going to also remove the FS9 package, but at this point, I'm willing to do that to get at CFS2.  I'll install FS9 afterwards.

Anyone know if they ever came out with a Windows version of Stealth Fighter, the F117A sim?  I really enjoyed that one.

Sorry, forgot to answer Hagar's question from 7/14 3pm about the internet Bicycle Games site.  No, I don't chose the "web connection" option in the Bicycle Games setup program.  I choose the other option, the name of which I can't recall now - maybe "Install" or something.  That's when I get the error.

Haven't gotten around to retrying the install yet.

I've been reading some of the other posts, particularly about wingmen crashing. I'll admit, I'm not used to having wingmen to worry about.  I classify myself as a "purist" - the mission isn't over until I've landed successfully.  "X"-ing out after completing the assigned tasks isn't for me.  Now I have wingmen to worry about?  Is that after I've advanced in rank or is that from the get go?

In response to the Bicycle Games uninstall taking FS9 with it, I haven't actually tried that yet.  I get the impression that others did not see the Bicycle Games setup program actually being the install engine for FS9 and CFS2.  Now that I think about it, someone else in my household installed Bicycle Games from MS a long time ago.  Maybe that's why I'm seeing it as
the "defacto" install engine for these new MS games.  Is everyone else seeing a FS-ish install engine, not Bicycle Games?  If so, then I'm DEFINITELY going to lose the BG package!

Excellent!  Bicycle Games is outta here!!  I predict the CFS2 will install perfectly well after BG is gone.

Thanks for all the help.

Hi indyfrogman,

Are you running anti-virus software and anti-spyware software on your system?  If you do a fair amount of web-surfing, the internet is thick with crap right now.  Spybot and Adaware are good freeware apps that can clean out a lot of stuff people don't even know is on their machines.   Some of the stuff comes in just by visiting a website. Other stuff comes with free downloads (such as card games).

Other wise, there is no reason (other than a problem app) why MS flightsims should not work wonderfully on XP.  I have CFS, CFS2 and FS2002 all installed without any trouble.

Happy flying!
