Problem downloading

Postby Bubblehead » Tue Jul 01, 2014 10:12 pm

Pete:

A while back I submitted a thread complaining about problems downloading. At the time I thought it was only in Simviation I was having download problems. I forgot what the suggestions were to correct it and I did not pay much attention to the problem but of course I was not able to download any new aircraft on the menu. But now I found out that the problem with download not only affected Simviation but all others, that is, I cannot download at all. When I click on the download icon all I see is a temporary flash of a window of sorts and that's it. I tried downloading the Apache Open Office 4.1 and it didn't work. So obviously the problem is somewhere else. Got any suggestions what I should look for?

Thanks

Don

Hope this helps you out

Pete: I tried to download a different browser (MS Internet Explorer 11) but alas my problem was my inability to download in the first place. Can I download the browser to another PC and then copy it to this PC? Any suggestions?

If you are using windows PC then IE should be installed by default. No need to download it. I am guessing some 'security' is blocking things.

Try booting up in safe mode - then open whatever browser -- I prefer Firefox -- and try downloading. If this works - we have to see what is running in normal start up that is the problem

If no luck --
Boot up normally then

Press Alt Ctrl delete

See what is running in Task manager.

Can you provide a screenshot of that?

Got it fixed. I downloaded IE 11 to my other PC, copied it and loaded it to this PC. Then I changed browser from Mozilla Firefox to IE 11. That took care of the problem. Now I can download. Tried it with one of the FSX aircraft and it worked.

Thanks to yaw'll.

Very odd. As Pete pointed out, IE is bundled with Windows. If you're using Windows 7 you should already have IE 11 installed. :?

Hagar:

I did have IE 11 already in my PC but didn't know that. I found that out when I installed the copied IE 11, it automatically stated that I already have the latest IE 11. Learn something everyday.
