Popups or surveys etc are not from simviation. Suggest you run malwarebytes and mebe this set of tools if you feel your PC is infected .... http://forum.avast.com/index.php?PHPSES ... ic=53253.0

That's a 3 stage scan (easy to do) but it has saved and cleaned my PC on 2 occasions

I had the same question/problem last summer(?).

What happened is that you downloaded a program with a few "enhancements" added to the package.

Unfortunately you can get these "enhancements" even from many, otherwise, reputable websites.

When you run the installer you'll often see a check box the says something like Full install: [X] Highly recommended.

Below that may be a box that says [ ] Advanced.

I've even seen the second box grayed out to give you the impression that you CAN NOT select it.

90% of the time, if you go with THEIR recommended install, you'll end up with unwanted "enhancements".

Try Pete's suggestion first, and if that doesn't work -

Go to Control - Programs and Features.

Sort the programs by date - you may have to select this according to your operating system.

Once sorted by date look for anything that you did not intend to install.

You probably don't have to uninstall the program that you want, just the parts that were added on to the package.

It's probably from Google. They think everyone's green, even scoop your IP address to sell to advertizers. You'll notice on some downloads a reference to google extras with the boxes already ticked, such as Tool bars and desktop search. Just make sure you untick them before proceding to download. I also use Internet Download Manager for all my downloads. Gives you 2 more chances to refuse the download.

If it's any consolation I'm seeing small, but strange, changes.

It's probably my computer though.

When I choose a big sh*t eating grin like this this one:
