Swearing.

Postby AussiePilot » Sun Oct 19, 2008 7:26 am

Just a quick question,

How much are we alowed to swear.

Ive been holding back just in case. It's not like I'm going to go around swearing everywhere, I'm just curious. :-?

As always - we like people to be nice round here .....  :)

There are no strict guidelines as we trust our users to be able to manage their own behaviour .... but obviously there are limits.

Common sense and 'what's appropriate' ....  ;)

The big No No is upsetting other members. The emphasis of Simviation has always been positivity, fun & a feel good factor. That should also carry into these forums.

All and all...don't swear. What is it going to get you on the forums? It's a bad habit and is not necessary. :)

THERE, it's a bit of a touch and go situation.  Outright swearing and expletives are discouraged, although what is (un)acceptable may be a moving target, subject to the whims of the particular mod/admin perusing the thread, and what strikes him/her/it funny at the moment.

I may find something funny, but Ozzy may find it offensive, go into a marmalade-withdrawal tantrum and decide to lock the thread, delete the post, ban the poster, one, several or all of the above.

So, ya takes yer chances in the Humor section, and If we find it vulgar, offensive, and an Affront to All the is Good and Proper for the Good of the Forum, yer OUT!

Besides, cussin' is a "heat of the moment" thing.  On a forum like this, if someone posts something that pop's your cork and you feel a few well chosen "colorful metaphores" are needed, then what's really needed is a nice cup of tea, hot chocolate, rootbeer float, a double burbon on the rocks with a mint twist, or some other diversion, just for a few moments, anyway.

One nice thing about this forum to begin with, is the general lack of dorks or trolls, anyway.  The few that have shown up (Like the guy who wanted to know about downloading FSX from Torrent) got the message well and good about this site not supporting software piracy, without resorting to vulgarities, and scuttled off.  The upshot being he didn't stay around to argue the point, and that's usually when things go down hill.

I don't see it as an issue, there's no need for it on this forum (Joke topic aside), and I say that as a person that in real life cuss' like a cowboy in a rainstorm when I'm having a good day.   ;)

Adding cuss words to your post is just a waste of time and energy. Not cool. 8-) Especially for us old folks that can't type very fast.

I think so too. Never swear here, or anywhere else.

Swearing just shows your intelligence or lack of. I am new here and value the help that is available when I need it, or when I just might have an answer for. As mentioned above, there is no reason to swear or have to read it, as I can lay down some verbage also! Keep it clean, We also have kids here, and some parents might pull them off this site for just that reason. Just venting,
