Simviation complaints.

wow these 2 posts from a while back are getting quite a response, even I've been slagged off on the second link.

One comment from a guy called KaptinKayoss was:
SIMVIATION can lick my nuts! As soon as I find out who the main players are, I'm going to pay a visit and literaly kill one.

Thats pretty strong so I'm off to hide under my duvet :'(

Some of those people take this way too seriously......and some of their comments are totally out of line.....OK...they have a right to air their opinions about the aspects of the site they don't like, but these are disgusting allegations that are clearly false....

They go use my fuc*ing MSN address as a way of spying on me! S*d you all! I bet when they have there "truthfull" screenshot contest, the payware they hand out is pirated. The owner is a lifeless jerk along with all the rest.

-Concordepilot

remember him....I even met him at Bristol airport and he seemed OK....now, because he made a mistake by posting someone elses pic in the contest he is attacking the site.....

Firstly, nicely said Ramos. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

The people who are saying really vile things about our forums are just pathetic and immature. >:(

BPB ... long time ago ... .... & I kind of agree with the guy about the 'clique'.

I also agree with Ramos ..... though I am regularly pissed off when I see regular members being responded to more than new members ...

I think it's overall a good video.  :)

It's always something we want to avoid here .... cliquishness that is .....   ::)

Well i think they kinda have a point as pete said... but if the guy showed us the shots again there is a lot of factors... like the lighting the plane texture, the AA and AF, the background activity all of these facts can change the way people think about the shot ;)

Note that most of the arguments & bad feelings start in the Screenshot forums.* This has recently spread to the Video forum. Don't ask me why some people take these things so seriously but they seem to attract immature troublemakers. You only have to look at typical comments on YouTube to see what I mean.

*After my well-intentioned remarks in those forums upset a couple of people I now steer clear of them. Life's too short. ::)

Pete, I agree with your feelings towards the original video poster and I also recognise that there is a 'clique' of members. What really disgusts me is the fact that many of the responses are clearly low level insults which clearly aren't true and affect the image of the site. Free speech should be encouraged and by making valid arguments (such as the original video poster) we can all do our bit to improve the already friendly environment we have on these forums (IMO :P). However, many of the posted comments do nothing to help us improve and become more accepting. they just discourage potentially new members from joining. :(

Anyway....I'm off to the airport.....:D

EDIT

Doug, I've noticed that too, hence my lack of participation in those forums for a while.....It's sad really, especially because taking screenshots and displaying them can be really rewarding. When I first posted some shots a few years ago they were truly terrible, yet everyone who replied gave me lots of help to improve them.

I think I'm going to start a new wave of positivity within the screenshot forums :D

I was reading the comments and was thinking "What Simviation are they talking about?" :-? sure a  few addons have been broken, missing pieces, etc. because it is freeware, and people make them in their extra time, for no charge. Even then, flawed aircraft like that are few and far apart, and are found on every freeware site. And at the forums, I have received nothing but help. People were being helpful and patient with my simple questions, but thanks to them my FSX runs and looks twice as good. I have yet to see one instance of a clique. Either this stuff happened long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away before I was a member, or those people are raving and ranting on and on because they just want somethng to criticise. Regardless of what they say, keep up the good work. :)

I wouldn't even read the - what sound like- idiot postings that you refer to. They are obviously irrelevant & inaccurate & by the sound of it posted by one or more pinheads.

I can guarantee you we don't post files if they are known to be faulty. I usually contact the contributor to see if he can fix before posting or if I hear of a specific file that has a problem I will remove it or fix it & reupload.  Those very same files I occasionally see posted on our competitor sites.

The world is full of people who can't see beyond their noses ...  ;D

It's good people like Ramos who are prepared to jump in & state a few facts ....  :)

This is quite interesting :-/ Ive been a member of one or two forums (more car related than anything else) one for many years until fairly recently - and they are all the same, even on this one i can see similar things happening!

So although i havent been here for years and years, i feel slightly able to comment as its not long ago that i was a newbie myself, and i can remember it! - and i think people forget that just because your new to here or somewhere, youve not been elsewhere for many years and have experince of forums....

Although im not going to 'have a go' its just how forums are. Theres always a few who have been there longer than others and semingly stick together.

I could tend to agree with the point that certain people post just about anything screenshot wise and it always gets a good response, others post seemingly good shots and dont often get good responses, or no responses what so ever. Its just how it is and nothing i think will change it.....

Also certain people post shots and reply only to certain  people who tend to also reply only to them, but rarely do they reply to other people, who may not be part of the 'group' but again, thats just how forums are.

With vehicles it was posting pictures of said vehicle - it could be a shed, but as long as you were part of the 'gang' or 'group' then no matter, it was fantastic! If you were not however......

The sad thing is 'the group' would eventualy start disagreeing, as they felt that because they had been there for so long, then they had some sort of say in how the forum was run, and, inevitably, the bad feeling starts, and the split happens and the rival forum pops up and the original forum suffers and you sometimes, in extreme cases, lose good friends, for no other reason than a daft car forum!!

Ive seen it happen three times at least on one car forum that i was on, it caused such a problem that many leave and never come back, the 'rival' forum prospers then collapses as many realise its just a load of garbage and a way of getting back at other people.

It ruins the whole community, as in where we would have huge meetings all over the country, somtimes in excess of 100 cars at certain shows from one forum you end up with five or six little gatherings and small groups of cars not connected at shows - but this is only relevant to the car forum world i guess, but the principle is the same, the feelings they cause are the same, if you get to involved anyway!!!!!

The saving graqce on this forum i think is staying power. If you can get over the no response 'period' and keep contributing, reply to peoples posts positively, eventualy you become accepted.  Its maybe not the way it should work, but its often the way it does work!

I note Harold got some bashing in one of those youtube threads, but to me he always replied to most of my early attempts at screenshots, with advice and critique, and i thank him for that!

I do try to make a point of replying to a lot of things in the screenshot forums, mainly because the example was set by Harold to me in my first days here -  not maybe with harsh bashing, because i dont think that helps people, although if i have any advice i will offer it - but i think sometimes you have to judge the situation and choose your words carefully.

Occasionly i wont reply though because its difficult to appear helpful and at the same time not 'up your own arse' - its a tricky thing dealing with people, especaily with somthing they have put a lot of time and effort into, and be critical, but helpful at the same time!!

I still get a zero on the reply screen occasionly when posting shots or repaints, but rather than wonder why, i think its best to move on and try harder with your next shot! Its not really anything to get upset about :D

Sorry post over!! ;D

Probably because the people in the graphic and video forums are creative and take things personally when criticized. You know, "creative indifference"  ;)
Same reason that bands who are really good wind up breaking up after a while... They become to "big headed" and creative differences get in the way....

Creative people tend to be sensitive to criticism of their work, especially when it's unwarranted or hurtful. That is perfectly understandable. I was referring to the troublemakers rather than the 'artists'. For example: the recent spate of posts by trolls (or a troll) in the Video forum complaining about music background to aircraft videos. This had obviously started on YouTube & the idiots tracked it & followed it here. The simple answer would be not to watch said videos if they offend them so much.

Fortunately this type of thing hasn't spread to the Photos forum yet. I live in hope.

People just make too much of a big deal. Simviation is just a small corner of the internet. Not necessary to make a big video complaint and threatening.
