If you just want to quote a small part, you can use the "quote" button and then just delete the text you want to omit.

As said above -

Highlight the text to be quoted & click the quote button

or click the quote button and paste the text between the quotes ...

I regularly do this on other forums where the combination of posts would fill up a page...

When you quote someone's post (Quote button just above their post) then it shows at the top of the message... like this:

[quote author=pear link=1211848906/0#0 date=1211848906]Sorry to bother you, but how do I qoute just part of someones post? I tried highlighting the text but that doesn't work. Thanks in advance[/quote]

Then delete whatever text you dont want, to leave this:

[quote author=pear link=1211848906/0#0 date=1211848906]I tried highlighting the text but that doesn't work. Thanks in advance[/quote]

Which marks up as this:

I tried highlighting the text but that doesn't work. Thanks in advance

(hopefully)

Adding the [quote] MESSAGE [/quote] tags around a message, as said, will turn that, into...

MESSAGE
