I've been trying to change my avatar and signature repeatadly recently but every time I try the profile screen just loads for ages and then goes to a failure screen! This wasn't a problem when we could just overwrite the old filenames but now I can't change, and I'm sick of my signature! Anyway I can get around this?

Keep trying. Try at a time when the forum is relatively quiet. You've just got to be patient really.

Yeh everyone gets this, best idea is to come on at like 8 in the morning when the forum is empty (bar certain hardcore members

)and update then, works fine

also, make sure you click the profile link when you are on the forum index...don't know why but it has caused me problems if I don't

Certainly not by linking the image like you've done with your avatar (which I'm now removing! Did you not read the sign-up page?)
You have to upload the image (see the little blue bar near the top of the screen).
Please note that avatars are limited to 10kb and signature pictures to 30kb.
Once you've uploaded the image you'll get a message about the file name and then all you do is open your Profile and copy and paste the [img]http: etc etc into the signature part of your profile and save it and away you go.
