File Download Worry

Postby Silver surfer » Sun May 22, 2011 1:55 am

I have downloaded the latest Fokker DR1 for fsx by neoqb but I do not recognise the file extension. It is not the usual ".zip" and immediately after I downloaded it one of those fake antivirus programmes started running on my PC.  Has anybody else downloaded this file and can confirm the odd file extension is correct?

Hi,

Yes the file is a zip file and contains nothing to worry about.

Our system will not accept any non zip uploads. Our server will also automatically detect and remove any files that contain viruses.

If you look at the file link on the page you will see it is a zip file.

I have downloaded it and checked it out. Scanned with McAfee and Malwarebytes. Both clean.

If you are still having a problem I suggest you run a virus scan and malware scan.

Your anti virus should detect and problem before any damage can be done.

But I can assure you no bad files will be found on this site.

:)Thanks very much for your reply. I was scared to even explore the file but I have now had a look at it and it would appear that when the rogue anti virus popped up it closed down all the browsers I had open and what I was seeing was an incomplete download with the .zip&sessionId=9e at the end of the URL.

Fortunately I had already installed the latest Malwarebyte and Superantispyware both of which detected the rogue files on a scan and I was able to remove them. Once you get hit with one of these trojans its too late to try and log onto any of the programmes that can clean it up because your browsers, IE9, Chrome and Firefox are hijacked by the fake anti virus.

Reassuring to know that your security is so good.
