Hardware upgrades

Postby pete » Fri Apr 18, 2014 5:27 am

We are in the process of installing some hardware upgrades to our main server.

Hopefully all will be OK but some users may find slowness from time to time over the next few days/ week. It may take up to a week for the software to integrate into the new hardware. Please bear with us. Once complete the server should also perform better :)

OK - FINALLY - it seems the main server hardware upgrade is complete :shifty: (

A few weeks ago the machine started to act slowly -- then more slowly and I started to get processor overload warnings. Turned out to be a physical problem and caused by a degrading HD -- and that's simply bad luck. No one's fault. Luckily we caught it in time before it completely ate itself - (but we do have a full 100% live backup of all data).

About a week ago we had a major upgrade and one of the main HD's replaced. In the past week the database and disc rebuild has been taking place and that again has slowed things. It took nearly 7 days to complete!

Now it seems to be complete - I think I will get the confirmation email soon but apologies for the slowness and hopefully (fingers crossed) the site will now be back to normal ........
