Not, I hasten to add, if you are about to land you flying boat on water. In that instance, that piece of advice will probably kill you.

But of course, a flying boat wouldn't have landing gear. Which would mean you were in an Amphibian. But that is a moot point. ;)


Yes. I would hesitate to call something as large as a Catalina an amphibian (although it is).
