ouch pete... talk about outdated forums...

Postby legoalex2000 » Mon Jan 23, 2006 1:46 am

i was just looking into YaBB just to see if there was a new version, something better than PHPBB.

yabb and xnull no longer exist, so much for keeping up to date.

so what would you move to if you had to?

Yabb does exist - it moved to a new home a few years ago.

http://www.yabbforum.com/

& we did attempt an upgrade - even had the Yabb developers attempting to do it for us - but it wouldn't convert.

It seems the only solution may be to delete all posts over 2 years old. Sad but maybe necessary. Still looking at other options though.

To be fair how many posts are really read that are 2 years old? Its nice when some people do look back for the info they need but most just ask the questions anyway. Check all the stickies for age, if older just copy and re-post. And bite the bullet I guess.

I like the post count for my own benefit - not for any competition - I'm no where near the top 15 and don't post enough to break into it.

Please don't scrap it Pete. ;) Or allow everyone over resident status to volenteer their names for the change.

No worries Richie the post was just to the world in general - not to anyone specifically.  :)

I can't say I see any problems with the current set up (from my end of course). If it ain't broke, don't change it... :)

If you do decide to switch to phpBB they can automatically convert the forum over to their platform using one of the packages at the bottom of the downloads page
