Cannot Download

Postby Bubblehead » Fri Dec 31, 2004 10:59 am

??? ??? ??? ???

Whenever I click on an aircraft to download, I get this message, "This page cannot be displayed". Is there anything wrong with the website? I did refresh and upgraded my browser but no joy. I have had no problems downloading anything else. I am able to go into all the provisions of Simviation (Forum, etc.). I've had no problems downloading aircraft until recently. Note: I installed the Webroot Spy Sweeper and another spyware software. Anyhelp is appreciated.

Hi - Sorry you're having trouble.

1st I presume you have read this - top of main page ..

http://www.simviation.com/accessprob.htm

You don't say whether this has just started. No changes have been made since dividing the site into free & pay about 6 weeks agao with a new FTP server for the free site to control bandwidth losses.

If something has changed since I would guess it is your system at the root. I have thoroughly checked the site using various locations, browsers & ISP's & narrowed problems down to the Opera browser connecting to the FTP (free) site files (which will be resolved shortly I hope) & anyone not connecting directly - for instance using a proxy server to connect. The majority of people have no problems.

(Spyware software can be very paranoid - often identifying harmless cookies, etc as spyware - whereas in fact they are simple utilities to make life easier for users by avoiding the need to log-in, etc. )

Please let me know how you get on & thanks for the feedback.

Im Sorry Pete But im a network admininstrator
I know my computer
it has somthing to do with the ftp server
You should check out that it hasnt got any firewall and blocking spicific people from an ip Range

an other thing it also could be that there is to much Traffic Going in so It Crashes/or does not let any more people in

to fix this you will have to limit how many can download at once

That is why other download sites that are big have Ques

The server was off air this AM for routine maintenance - some moving files & rebooting after clearing areas.

& the post above was Dec31st where the problem was a user one - not our server.

Generally we are set up to run without any ongoing problems or need to restrict users accessing our servers.  - but bandwidth is limited on a per user basis on the free access site to stay within an economic reality - in other words we can only give so much away for free.
