Forum Colors ....

Postby Captain Midnight » Sat Aug 06, 2016 7:43 am

I'm sorry, but I'm a "FS2004-Only" type of guy, so I'm posting this here.

What's with the pale Yellow and Blue color scheme of the Forum text? I can barely read the light Blue text ..... and simply cannot read the YELLOW topic headings without my head being 2 inches from the screen.

Would someone at SimV PLEASE review your master color plan and reconsider making your website a little more "user eye friendly".

P.S.
I just had my eyes checked ..... so I know it isn't just me

And that is logic at its finest! Because posting a question about the layout of the forum in the FS2004 category is just tbe way you think it should be done. I'm sure a mod will take care of it for you...cuz the mods are just those types of guys.

I like the colours. Your inability to read yellow and blue might be more a function of you monitor or graphics settings. I regularly browse SimV on my i5, and can read everything just fine without zooming in. Change your screen resolution, sdjust your contrast, brightness, or colour settings, or investigate the accesibility options built into windows.

Always good to hear opinions ... but .... I have 5 pc's at home, an android tablet and an android phone. The text colors of the forums are a dark blue - mid blue and black and gold. It was done years ago when the new yabb forum was put in place to approx match the main site.
I certainly don't see any light blue of pale yellow on any of my devices??? It looks exactly the same in all -- and all are default color settings. I also regularly access the site from other devices and it always looks the same. Nor do I have any trouble reading anything or have ever had such feedback until now ..... As pegger suggests ... it could be your settings?

Can you maybe take a screenshot to demonstrate what you mean? Thanks

"I certainly don't see any light blue of pale yellow on any of my devices???"

I think that this is somewhat pointless, but what you see in my screen capture is probably going to be what you see normally.

I do, however, agree with the Captain, and another post by a new member, that the yellow is somewhat harder to focus on. I just assumed that it was me.

A possible cause may be how bright we like our monitors.

My forum colours are sunshine yellow, with the flavour of sweet corn, and sky blue with just a light touch of aquamarine.

I've viewed this forum on various different PC monitors, laptops, tablets & mobile phones. I would describe the colours that I see as light blue, mid blue & pale yellow (gold). Nothing that I would describe as dark blue.

For what it's worth, I've just checked out the forums on 3 other major FS websites & they are all very similar colours to this one. I've never had a problem with it.

Since this is the only site I have trouble with ..... I reject your reality and substitute my own. Text is light blue and pale yellow .... and I'm not the only one having troubles.

At your example size of "[size 150]", it looks better.

But at standard Simviation size, not so good.

But as I said, some of us may have our screens brighter, causing the colours to appear lighter than what you see.

And let's not forget Amelia's post from July 24 - The Yellow Letters Title Subject.

My point is - those are not the forum colors -- it's mid blue and gold.

Anyone having a problem please post a screenshot of what you mean. Over 1 million posts on this forum and this is the 1st such comment.
Always keen to hear feedback.

I must admit............................................................................

I've accessed these forums using many devices such as a Samsung Note 4, a Samsung 10" Tablet, various laptops, quite a few PCs & my Telly.
I've never had any issues with the colours being used on this website! :geek:

Keith.

P.S. The word COLOURS! Some of you guys are missing a U out! ;)

That must be the answer then . . . it's the U in colour. Change language to English (UK) on your system.

GOT IT! It's the citrus in the limes leaking through that's changing the colours!

Solved.

Sorry. Couldn't help myself. I'm on the last part of Scurvy: How a Surgeon, a Mariner, and a Gentlemen Solved the Greatest Medical Mystery of the Age of Sail.

It's an exceptionally well written book, and I can strongly recommend it to anyone with an interest in history or medicine. If they ever make a documentary based on this book, I'd buy it.
