I'd like to thank many of the fine people here.

Have you any suggestions for additional forums or improvements?

It's been good meeting many of you online, but I think that that it's time to move on.

This sites standards seem lower than I had thought.

I reckon it was the magna carts thread in the history section.

I am very surprised that the moderator hasn't deleted it and booted out the offending forumite. I can only assume the the mod is on holiday. The offending post has been reported.

Stick around oldairmail, you are appreciated.

I reckon you are right. Somehow I bet when you say "I am very surprised that the moderator hasn't deleted it and booted out the offending forumite" you're not talking about the forumite who injected politics into a thread, which is in clear violation of the rules. And its not the first time, or even the first time in the last month. Somehow I get the feeling that some members think they are "more equal than others" and I know what a lynch mob getting riled up looks like. Do your worst. I know how much Pete has given up, and continues to sacrifice to make this place happen. I am not the one who decided that the rules didn't apply to them, or the one who decided since he was politically aligned with the one who decided the rules didn't apply to him, he'd also pretend that the rules didn't apply to some other good-old-boys.

I didn't assume that Pete was on vacation. I assumed he figured we were all grown ups here, and that he adhered to the old "If you can't take it, don't dish it out" adage. Maybe I gave some folks too much credit with that school of thought, though. Since he hasn't been back to explain himself, I also figured OAM was nursing the hangover that followed the bottle session that led to the whole "This sites (sic) standards seem lower than I had thought" pity party of one. :violin:

I'll have a look. (No moderator ever sees every post!)
It may be time to review the mods here as many of them seldom visit.
But please NEVER allow one person's views or comments to make you leave a forum.

& folk aren't booted out just because they hold a view (unless of course it was racist or some other offensive reason)

OK -- I read it ..... :o :( :angry-nono: :auto-crash:

I have asked people here in the past by PM to please avoid making provocative political comments.

Meanwhile that was a flame war that got out of control.

I will remind folk that we do insist on trying to be polite at all times and NOT to allow anger or disapproval of other's viewpoints to be expressed

Why? Because we all know what many forums and comment threads lead to if uncontrolled.

Now ... can we please just get back to 'normal' .......

Thank you 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
