How feasible would it be to offer the option of either uploading up to four 150kb images or one 600kb image.

Seeing as how we still have so many unfortunate 'dial up' users here,

including one who is an Admin,

that 150k limit will be with us for some time.  ;)

The work around for this,

is to upload the high resolution version of your shot

to an image hosting site like photobucket, or imageshack,

and then post a link with your shot that you upload here.  ;)

This post here by Fly2e is a great example of this: http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaB ... 1278163251

* just don't ever post the outside link with img tags here.  ;)  ;D

Another issue with that is wiht the contests. It would be unfair to the people with 150K shots if they are competing with 600K shots.

8-)

Then just don't compress so much when saving the image? The limit changed from 100-150kb once, and people managed to change the compression applied to reach the new limit. It would be much of the same here.

But one actual point to do with the images in competitions is that they aren't posted as a single image when the finalists are announced - The '4x150kb or 1x600kb' only applies to one thread where your limit is that 600kb. In contests it is likely that it would have to be a smaller limit because they stack all the winning shots up and that would take up more bandwidth. Higher bandwidth is no issue for me, but to the servers and slower connections it would be.
