Why cant you just resize your images to fit in with the guidelines like everyone else has to do? :-?

It really doesn't hurt most of the time to compress...Just see some of the shots around...Well under 100KB and yet still crisp and clear ;)

The reason we have these rules are they are the best compromise between speed/size. Quite a lot of people still don't have broadband! Heck I live in a country where there isn't broadband :o

If you look at the Graphics forums you will see that all the great shots are within the guidelines. Some of our winners have been less than 70K

The obvious solution is for you to turn your request inwards & resolve YOUR problem.  ;)

What exactly is the problem? Have you tried using Irfanview to save images?

Then I expect you have a great many narrow little bands?
See what happens when I get routed to a topic forum I'm unfamiliar with? :)

The P.S. to this is that I'm another of those to whom direct cable is no longer available (lest I go against particular request). Some posts take a long time to load -- forget youtube: I usually wait until there's enough chatter to comprehend what was shown or ignore it entirely. As to pictures, right-clicking and choosing to edit in XP version MSPaint does quite well for most resizing with jpg/jpeg (a feature not available in the earlier MSOS versions; bmp -- bitmaps-- can be resaved as a jpg or vica versa), quite well rivaling or exceeding Paint Shop Pro 9 in that one aspect.

8-)

I have Mpaint. It's corrupt so I can't reduce images so I went to Microsoft Office Picture Manager to reduce my screenshot but the reducing and changing from a bitmap costs a LOT of discoloration.

Wow. How terrible. I use a T1+ wireless router. I hate dialup.

That is probably because your Mom & Dad are paying for it!

I take professional screenshots for a few companies and I will tell you, if you know what you are doing you can post very detailed screenshots under 100kb without any distortion!

I thought about getting Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended (because me n my friends design myspace backgrounds and icons etc) but the price is overwhelming. I'll look into the infranview.
BTW, nice shots!

You may as well try irfanview - it is free... :)
