Filenames

I just noticed it isn't possible to overwrite your files when uploading anymore.  Was this being abused?  I found it very handy, if not vital, when uploading images.

There was a posibility it was being abused during the screenshot contest, so when the offer was made to write a script to prevent overwriting it was accepted.

Yes it was abused on many occasions - with people uploading  alternative images with the same filenames -

If you make an error just upload a new image with a different name & edit your post - no problem ;)

Oh no! Now when you want to update your sig/avatar image you have to chose a different filename? Bummer. That really saved a lot of time.. :-/ ::) I guess if it was being abused, then actions needed to be taken. ;)

One time someone uploaded porn and another time Dave was slandered by a rogue good-for-nothing if I remember correctly.  ::)

Nice new system.

The only small gripe I have with it is that you now with the tabular format can't "cut and paste" the block of uploaded filnames which appeared on the previous update, although it's nice that they are now all in numerical order...

You pointed out exactly what I was going to say Charlie. It would be rather nice to be able to C+P all the links at once.

If you really want to cut and paste then I can make an update for the script.

I noticed it too.

When it comes to updating my sig I normally give the uploaded sig a different name. Therefore I'm not bothered by this change. In fact, I like it because it provides a barrier between our monthly contests and the cheaters.

With firefox, you can hold down CTRL and that way mark all of the frames with the text, and them copy them all, so no problem there. I don't know if this is possible with Explorer.

Try uploading an image.

cut and paste

Make that Copy & Paste. I would certainly appreciate it. I must try Ecko's idea.
