Edited Screenshot Contest... The Return?

This ran for about 4 or 5 months last year. There seem to be a few more "editors" (as it were) now, so would anyone be interested in its return? If so I'll have a word with the "enablers" from last year and see what they say...

The prize, last year at least, was kudos, but you never know...

I'd be willing to help out as a judge. Summers coming, I need something to do. :)

Not much of an editor myself, but I remember last year I helped out with the judging and I'd be willing to do that again if I'm needed... 8)

Defo, gotta do this!!

One request, we gotta allow composites!! (ie photo's etc to be used)

So do we need to appoint someone to be in charge or something?

This would be an awesome idea...but what would be done about rules? The real competition is easy enough it just has to a be a good quality, good angle shot with good freeware addons and your in with a chance. I think people are going to find this MUCH harder because now we're talking about not only people with skills to pick a shot but also to go back and spend possibly hours to refine it. I niggling issue in the back of my head is *possibly* with the higher end shots, no offence but what are the chances of someone say sticking an actuall photo in claiming it to be an FS shot they spent days on. Just a thought... Besides that I'm all for it  ;D

Wasn't there a page with previous winners from edited contests around somewhere? If so, where can I find it?

I'd be more than willing to participate!

Hopefully integrity would be in plentiful supply. We had no problems last year.

but what would be done about rules?

If you look back to September or so, you'll see the last set of rules, probably in a post started my myself... :)

I get your point ;D ;Dlol, but editing encompasses so many differing skills and talents that the same people won't be winning all the time. The judges usually are open to all sorts of original ideas which means that usually you get a fair playing field.

In terms of the integrity, it wasnt a problem when it was done last time. It is virtually impossible (although some have come close) to edit a screenshot that looks EXACTLY like a photo. Usually if the judges have a query about the shot's origins, they can request the original screenshot and possibly any extras.

In fact, a possible suggestion: that all shots submitted must have a copy of the original screenshot also in the thread, and also must state HOW they made the shot (programs, tools used etc)? Obviously this saves time for the judges, and it also allows other people to see actually where the edit has come from. Editing is something you keep learning as you go along, and this would really help the newer competitors to keep up with the veterans.

And lastly, I'm all for it!

cheers
