don't know if its been asked before.......is it feasable to arrange to find a way to get info that has been submitted here on a particular subject by entering the subject matter?..... some kind of search engine? or is it too difficult or costly. would save alot of repetitions.............cheers, vic

Do you mean the Forums search?

There is one - as you probably know (the 'SEARCH' .. just after HELP.. above... ) - but not exactly sure what you are getting at .. because the forums search does search the subject matter - but then users don't always put the subject matter in the subject box .. (hint to anyone who puts 'please read', 'what kind of ....', 'I've had enough'..... etc ;)

thanks pete, ok, i wanted to find out which are the best water effects, which are compatable and which not etc. so i entered water effects.........nothing......someone  must have placed water, or effects in subject matter. but no go. so the search in the forum seems useless unless i'm missing something, which is the usual case..............regards, vic.

You tried it?

Just searched 'water effects' in FS2004 forum - got some pretty good results ....

Good idea to search the forum you want - not all of them - saves a lot of time.

ok, i still may be doing something wrong......yes, i entered water effects or water textures for fs2004, and i got a few results in august. but will it bring up the various threads or whatever since the beginning of the forum connected with that subject? maybe i'm missing something here.............  thanks, vic.

maybe people should be encouraged to narrow down the topic first, followed by a statement about it, if needed. (to nail down their request and therefore make it easier to find that topic in search). a request like this this could be placed always at the top of the forum? anyways, thanks for your kind attention, cheers, vic.

It searches the entire post - all words.

The key is to keep your search terms simple ..

Like I said - search 'water effects' in FS2004 - 90 days - & it will give you all the posts that mention that term in the past 90 days ....

I can't see how you could ask for more & it seems to be exactly what you were asking for in your original post.

You should narrow the search to the specific forum & set a time limit - otherwise yes you are searching too much ..

I know, but sometimes I want to find all mention of something in the forums, right back to when SimV was "born".
