Flight School for Newbies

Hi everyone,

I've only had FS2K2 installed now for about 2 weeks. Now, I've never really liked the term 'Newbie', prefering instead 'Student Pilot'. That, along with several questions that I've posted in the FS2002 General Forum gave me the idea for a new forum dedicated especially for those us who are new to FS.

I'd imagine that the more experienced pilots get pretty tired of seeing the same old kindergarten level questions appearing over and over. With a new, dedicated forum that would clear up some of the 'clutter' in the General Forum.

A Flight School Forum could have several volunteer 'Pros' overlooking it and aswering questions. Also, if certain posts could be held at the top of the list, then those same Pros could write posts dealing with the most commonly asked questions & issues and post them before the questions are even asked.

So, that's my idea. What do you think?

   Take care.
Sue

well pete tried FAQ forums in the past, while in theory they were a good idea, the simple fact was people didnt use them, choosing the other forums instead. I dont know if thats what you are getting at?

There is a Flight school forum, and though real flying and the sim are quite a bit different, a lot of the principles are the same as in real flying

I'd imagine that the more experienced pilots get pretty tired of seeing the same old kindergarten level questions appearing over and over.

Not at all! Even us 'experienced' simmers started out just like you, asking how to properly land an aircraft. Now it's our turn to help out.

Being a real student pilot, my instructor is constantly trying to drill the same stuff, over and over into my ever seemingly thick skull, and sometimes It takes a few times before it kicks in ;D

I'll just underline what the guys said above - the forums are a mix of new & experienced alike & the fresh air of new members & questions from 'newbies' is an essential & most valued ingredient here :)

& remember there are always several non participants who will want to know just what you have asked ......  :)

Sue check out our Flight School forum, there you'll find many answers to questions about real and virtual aviation, and like the gang says, we're always happy to help-out. I remember some of the questions I asked when I was first here, and the patience people showed with me. A great crowd and I'm proud to be part of the team.

Hi Guys,

I already had experience with how nice people are here, which is why I hang out on this site instead of some others out there. I just didn't want to irritate everyone by being the 1 millionth person to ask the same old questions like "How do I flare out for landing?" (Of course, that's 1 reason I fly a B-52, they're not SUPPOSED to flare for landing.)

I guess that at a few other forums, my idea might have had merit, you know, sites like Oscar The Grouch's FS site.   ;)

So, I guess *HUGS all around* and I'll just ask away.

   Take Care.
Sue

Remember, if anyone tells you to stop posting questions that have been asked before, swear at them. I think you'll be pleasantly suprised at how few insults are censored round here. ;D

Newbie questions actually help more than newbies...every new sim has slight differences and many times a newbie question has forced me (and I'm sure many others) to actually look and not just rely on "experience".

Besides, if you segregate the newbies...who's gonna answer the questions. :)
