What, no current events forum?

I suppose such a forum would result in the internet version of a bar-room brawl?   :(

Not necessarily but I don't see how you can discuss current events without politics & religion raising their ugly heads. We already have a General Discussion forum. I think there are quite enough forums on this board as it is.

The General Discussion board's guideling specifically says no politics or religion.  Right now, we have the events in Israel/Lebanon, and there's no forum here to discuss these events.

The General Discussion board's guideling specifically says no politics or religion.

That guideline covers the whole forum, not just General Discussion.

Right now, we have the events in Israel/Lebanon, and there's no forum here to discuss these events.

The situation in the Middle East is a highly controversial issue. That would certainly develop into a flame war. I guarantee it.

You can be absolutely sure -100% - like hagar said - that any discussion of politics, let alone big time stuff like you suggest - will result in account suicides - flame wars - old time members falling out, etc.

Our 'no politics/religion' thing is about making this place a calm place .. focussed on hobby stuff - a little enclave from what is going on out there - without emotional issues.

Emotional issues are like fires. They burn. Hurt if you get too close. & usually burn off with very little to remember. & very often a lot to regret if you have been involved.

Best to stand back - observe - think - learn.

I've learned the hard way. ;) & often been the worst culprit.

And If ya want to discuss things you can always do it thru PM... Might take a bit longer but there are some people ( me  ) who are always open for a discussion ( even politics) be sure to pick the right people though..

As for politics on the forums..... nope won't work!
