Poll Results

Postby Mobius » Mon Apr 10, 2006 5:00 pm

Just wondering if there was any way to see the results of a poll without voting in the poll and potentially messing up the results.  The poll that brought this up was the one in "Payware" about the best payware company, and I was curious about the results, but since I don't have any payware, I don't want to spoil the results by voting for something that I shouldn't.  Just a thought...

The way the yaBB script is setup, you really can't.

Can it be rewritten so that the results are visible?  Probably, but the effort is probably not really worth the end result.

What I usually do in cases like this is simply vote for a random choice.  Once I view the results (mentally deleting the vote I cast) I then simply hit the remove vote option.  That way you can view the poll and then remove your vote so it doesn't damage the results.

Does this work even if the results are hidden?

No. Then the results are shown when the poll is closed. The closing the poll will show the results. The reason that you don't see them before is so that you're voting isn't theoretically influenced by what the results are. See?

Ah, I meant are you allowed to remove your vote if the results are hidden.  There's no way to tell if votes are hidden until after the bogus vote has been submitted.

If the vote is hidden then you won't find out the result intill the poll is closed whether you voted or not.

Be it a closed or open poll, when they're closed the voting screen goes away and just the results are displayed.

You can remove your vote if the vote is hidden.
