Rather than work your way through the pages wouldn't a search using various terms be 100 times easier? - I found a few.

 I also wonder if it's worth bothering with pre FSDS2/GMax aircraft??

Well by coincidence Rob Smith has uploaded a series of FS2004 default repaint kits - which has decided this issue

I have been unable to find any mention of Paint Kits or Blank Textures in the CFS2 downloads section.

That took a long time and I now have blurred vision.
