Postby whirlwind 10 » Tue May 03, 2016 12:12 pm

I have tried to down load Convair 580 mango Airlines and get the following
Windows cannot open this folder
The compressed (zipped)folder C:\users\woodard\appdata\local\microsoft\windows\temporary internet files\content IE5 \gmme3u26\1c580 mango-1.zip is invalid
I downloaded files before and after this one with no problem

The Windows compressed files utility cannot open some zip files for some reason. If you have problems try 7-Zip. http://www.7-zip.org/

Works for me every time.

Hi

I'd try downloading it again I have just downloaded mango-1.zip and mango-2.zip and extracted both with WinRar OK.

Cheers

I second that motion. I use "7-Zip" exclusively for all zipped files and have never had an issue either.

It works fine for me with 7-Zip. I wouldn't have suggested it without trying it myself first.

Find the downloaded file in Windows Explorer. Then right-click on it & select the 7-Zip "Extract to ****" option.

I've just checked this out. http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=1C580&categoryId=
Two files which look exactly the same except for the file size. One is 84.47Mb & the other 66.41Mb.
I've been wondering what the difference between them could possibly be. If you click on the "Zip file preview" links the biggest one will open normally & the other one is blank. I presume that the latter is the one that whirlwind 10 is having problems with.

After extracting the smaller 66.41Mb file (1C580Mango-1.zip) with 7-Zip as in my last reply I compressed it again with the Windows utility as an experiment. It was now 84.4Mb which confirms my theory. The two files are the same but have been compressed using different utilities. This the reason that Windows will not open a few downloads in the usual way.

Not any more there isn't. Corrupt file deleted ......... :) (thanks for noticing that)

Note to original poster - The reason the file is so big is that it includes a huge sound file. It should normally be about 15MB

LOL, I suspect that you and I look nothing like our Avatars!

I am at the point where my memory often lets me down and it drives me nuts. Especially names. Somebody mentions something that I USED TO have knowledge of but I can't remember the details now. I hate that.

Haha! That's certainly true in my case. The story behind my avatar is too complicated to go into here. A caption below it used to read "My Spitfire Girl". A pretty young lady serving on the mobile Spitfire beer bar at an air display was kind enough to pose for me. This was more years ago than I care to remember.

Same here. It's all in there somewhere. The problem is in accessing it. :(
