My Microsoft Security Essentials alerted and removed a virus from the recent LTCW Hakkari Airport Turkey scenery, filename: LTCW-Hakkari-V1.0-by-DAGHAN.zip.

Virus was identified as RANSOM:HTML/Teerac.A

Better check that one, carefully.

Where did you download it from - it probably wasn't the only infected download.

Fine for me. I run Norton premier version and it showed nothing. Also server is equipped with anti virus so normally infected files would be rejected on upload.
All looks normal and the guy is a regular contributor. There doesn't seem to be a file in there called RANSOM:HTML/Teerac.A
Anyone else ?

I'll try it on another pc with avast ......

Edit: Avast shows clean too on my other pc

Any more info?

Sorry Pete, I just downloaded the file.

I have Microsoft Security Essentials & Malwarebytes Anti-Malware running at the same time.

Microsoft Security Essentials caught it first, which was a surprise to me.

ftldave, You win the stuffed doggy prize.

I had updated both virus databases this morning and scanned the computer.

I'm doing it again.

Just as a safety measure, I always run one scanner while downloading the newest virus data for the other. The I switch over.

I'm not really paranoid. :D :shifty:

Uh, I think I'd prefer a gift card, thanks anyway. :D

People can say what they will about Microsoft and all, but their anti-virus does a good job.

I hope the Hakkari Airport scenery eventually gets fixed by the creator/uploader - the screenshots looked nice.

For what it's worth...

Back in the '90s Lotus Software sent out a new version of Lotus 1-2-3 with a virus on the disks.

Yeah, DISKS. As in floppy disks.

Back then, Lotus, as a MAJOR software company.

Gee, sorry to hear that, the little doggy is already on it's way.

You really should have let me know sooner. :D

BOY! I feel MUCH better now!

RANSOM:HTML/Teerac.A

Ransom:HTML/Teerac.A is a detection name that may pop-up from Microsoft Security Software when it detects a threat that attempts to lock the screen of the computer. In other terms, this threat is called ransomware virus. It locks the screen and displays a page of warning messages stating that you have violated certain laws while using the Internet. To be more reasonable, Ransom:HTML/Teerac.A will disguise as an alert from legitimate agencies like FBI, National Police, Interpol, and other known institution.

It looks like LTCW is still available.

Be VERY sure of your virus checker if you want to test it.
