Forums login problems

Postby pete » Wed Jan 23, 2013 12:43 pm

Some people have experienced login problems again.

The forums data have been rebuilt again so hopefully it is resolved.

However it is a good idea - whatever PC you use for the forums - click 'keep me logged in' or 'remember this password' in your browser.

I and many others have not trouble logging in because I simply never log out.

Meanwhile: The whole forums will be upgraded in the foreseeable future as we are moving to a new data center and a new high power server for both the main site and forums. (We will also be migrating the forums into a different program. )

Thanks and apologies to those inconvenienced.

Pete.
Thanks for your efforts. I know the forums have been down most of the day so I assume lots of work has been going on to resolve this problem. It seems however that I am stuck as a "ground hog" for the foreseeable future as my old log-in, "zaphod" (since 2003) is still not working.
Hey ho. Lets hope the new re-build will sort it out.

Thanks again.

Hey pete, not sure if you are still working on the issue, but I have been unable to log into my gtirob01 account. And when I click to have my password sent to me, it does send it but the email does not include any password. Just a message saying;

This reminder was requested by a visitor at Simviation Forum. If you did not submit a request to reset your password, then please ignore this Email.

Otherwise, go here to reset your password: ...

Any ideas? I know my password, but it just doesnt seem to want to work.

Click the link & reset your password. That worked for me. You can use your original password if you wish.

It seems the forums member list was damaged in some way.

As Doug says - if you can't log in - please click on 'Forgot password' and reset it - and as Doug says -- it seems you can use the same one again.

I am going to fix this ridiculous problem once and for all as soon as I finish the work on the main site.

We are moving lock, stock and barrel to a new provider and a new machine that should make everything better! Once that's done I will get the forums converted into a new and more stable format -not yabb.

Thanks for bearing with me on this and apologies for those inconveniences. I would also be annoyed

Hi Pete.
I can't for the life of me understand why you feel you need to "apologies for those inconveniences" when things go slightly wrong. Without all the hard work you put in we wouldn't have the wonderful web-site we all enjoy.
Thanks to you and all the moderators for your efforts.
Much appreciated ;)

Finally was able to reset my password. A few days ago it would not let me reset my password from the email link.. that was the problem. But it looks as it its all sorted out now!
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.
