Problems w/downloads from Simviation

Postby SSI01 » Wed Apr 25, 2012 2:31 pm

I have tried for two days to download files from Simviation.  Every time I do I get a message saying I can not download more than two files simultaneously.  If I'm getting the msg in error, check my computer and clean my Temporary Internet Files.  I've done this and I'm still getting the msg.  Is there a reason this is happening?  This applies to FS9 downloads, hence I'm on this forum discussing it.

Understood - however, I couldn't even initiate the first download.  I also cleared out my temp internet files (cache) as the site wanted me to do, and still can't download anything.

Here's what it says, when I had no downloads going at all -
"Non-registered visitors can download only 2 files simultaneously. If you get this message in error please try deleting Temp Internet files (cache) in your browser"

HI

Something is caching your browsing ... (you say you cleared cache - rebooted?)

1. Try another browser (if you use IE try Firefox, etc)

2. Make sure you reboot your PC regularly -- at least once every couple of days.

If you use your PC a lot -- believe me at the end of a day your little machine will stink digitally. Give it a shower -- reboot -- & every now and then give it a nice pamper with CCleaner. Clear out all those digital nasal hairs, trim long toe nails, etc ..

I have never known it to be any problem if people do the usual PC stuff like rebooting every day, etc ..

OK, I rebooted, updated and ran CCleaner - and still get the same thing when I try to download.  Haven't been to the other browser yet, want to troubleshoot here first.  Never had this problem before with this site.

Are you using a download accelerator? Assuming your browser has not cached -  then it must be something on your system causing this problem -- take a look at what is running (hit alt-ctrl-del .. Task Manager ... Processes)

Right now I'm still cleaning the machine, although not the system drive ("E").  E drive has been cleaned, as of last night.  I am cleaning another drive ("F") that FS9 resides on, it's a Terabyte drive so this will take a while.

Here's what the System Manager has to say is on the machine:

taskmgr.exe
cleanmgr.exe
AvastUI.exe
RTHDCPL.EXE
WLIDSVCM.EXE
WLIDSVC.EXE
notepad.exe
wmiprvse.exe
sychost.exe
MOM.exe
ipoint.exe
WinPatrol.exe
CarbonitsUI.exe
alg.exe
msiexec.exe
SeagageDashboar...
AvastSvc.exe
ieplore.exe
svchost.exe      LOCAL SERVICE
svchost.exe      LOCAL SERVICE
ati2evxx.exe      SYSTEM
explorer.exe
svchost.exe      NETWORK SERVICE
svchost.exe      LOCAL SERVICE
svchost.exe      SYSTEM
svchost.exe      NETWORK SERVICE
MemeoDashboard...
iexplore.exe
svchost.exe      SYSTEM
ati2evxx.exe      SYSTEM
CarboniteService...
lsass.exe
svchost.exe
services.exe
winlogon.exe
csrss.exe
smss.exe
svchost.exe      SYSTEM
wmiprvse.exe
CCC.exe
spoolsv.exe
System
System Idle Process

"Clean" is running w/25% of system resources - "System Idle Process" is running w/75% of resources.

Try Firefox and see what happens. It will help to identify the problem.

Will do.  Again, System Tools is doing a disk cleanup on that terabyte drive.  It's been two days, going on three, and it's almost at the half-way point.  Soon as that's over I'll try Firefox, which is already downloaded.

What cleanup are you using. I use CCleaner and Malwarebytes -- a 1TB drive (x2) and it only takes a few minutes  on each.

I'm using the proprietary MS system tools to clean the cache files.  I also use MalwareBytes, and CCleaner on all drives.  System tools disk cleanup is one green dot away from being done with the "F" drive, where FS9 resides.  I've already cleaned the operating drive "E."

As soon as the system tools are done, I'll do a MalwareBytes scan and CCleaner scan on "F" and then we'll be ready to go.  Probably tomorrow AM.

I wouldn't use the built in windows cleaner ...

Taking more than a few minutes to clean a 1TB drive -- something is wrong.

If I were you I'd stop that process now. The simply run CCleaner & malwarebytes. It should only take a few minutes.

If you are using the inbuilt windows tools then I can't help you further  .. I stopped using them way back in about 1999 due to multiple bad experiences and reading tech forums.

Will do.

For the record - here's what I'm getting when I try to download from this site, via the "regular" access (I am not a registered/paying member):

Non-registered visitors can download only 2 files simultaneously. If you get this message in error please try deleting Temp Internet files (cache) in your browser

I get this msg after starting a download - but I have no other downloads going at that time.

Again - you have something running on your system that is causing this ...

Just try FF ---- If you're only sticking to IE and not allowing me to help you identify your problem I cannot help you any further .. You need to go through steps to identify what is causing your problem. One basic step is to see if it's your browser - the most common problem.  8-)
