Just wanted to let everyone know that this file may contain a Trojan.SpamThru virus and the risk is high.  The virus does part of the following:

http://www.symantec.com/security_respon ... 99&tabid=2

  1. Redirects spam through the compromised computer.

  2. Overwrites the hosts file in order to prevent access to several security and antivirus Web sites or automatic updates to antivirus software:

I downloaded the file from another site and Norton said the same thing.

Could be a false alert, there have been 1400 downloads and nothing said yet, sometimes these false alerts can happen with some Virus protection software.

This will be looked into. Thanks for the concern and heads up. ;)

Thanks for the reply.  I know that some virus software picks up a certain thing and says that it is infected, so that is why I said possible.  I am not going to use the file because it came up again when I downloaded from another site.  If it does contain some spam, I'd rather be safe as I get enough spam as it is.  Thanks again.  Gary

I just checked it out with AVG and it came back clean, but I'm still going to have another Mod check it out just in case. ;)

Pete take a look and pete scanned with AVG - again nothing --- BUT!! I don't take risks with user downloads so I have zapped the file.

1 unhappy Simviation user = 1 unhappy pete

Thanks for the report .... Much appreciated!

When I saw this thread I went to remove FSX spotter from add or remove programs and could not remove it. I then hit start/explore and under Microsoft games was another file called Mocrosoft games, included 2 drop downs, Microsoft FSX/FSX spotter. (Mocrosoft is the actual spelling.)

Steve, I was going to suggest you don't use the 'uninstaller' if it is doing strange things.

If it was mine I would just right click delete. There are several free registry cleaners (CCleaner for example) that I would also run.

Sorry if any trouble was experienced. Believe me we really try to avoid problem files like the plague!!

Thanks for your reply Pete. I was just afraid to delete something I wasn't sure about, turns out it was just an ID10T error. Thanks again.
