SimV Expired

First of all SimV has a great host. I've been getting a page all evening saying that the www.simviation.com domain name is expired and awaiting renewal or deletion. I looked around on the Network Solutions site and found their support number. After I talked to a tech support representative I tried SimV again. Guess what? It was fixed.

Impressive.

I see others had the same problem. I posted over on AVSIM asking if anyone had trouble and everyone over there could log on. That's why I called. Glad it helped.

Answer I got was that it was my name server not being updated but since it cleared up right after I called I bet they forgot to reset something.  ;D

Still was quick work from NWS.

Glad it's back up and fixed! :)

This type of problem is surprisingly more common than most think. The fact that some will regain full access before others...or will lose access before others can be explained in how the internet works.

When a host redirects a domain name, without blocking the actual service, it takes a while to update all the Domain Name Servers (DNS) in use by ISPs. Those without the update will still access the pages as intended, those updated quickly will lose service almost immediately. The same thing happens in reverse when the DNS is updated to restore normal service.

Some DNS are updated only once or twice a week...so if the "cancellation" happens just before an update those served by such a DNS will lose service almost immediatley and then might wait almost a week before the "restoration" update.

Most people in North America and Western Europe are served by a DNS that updates at least once a day, many broadband customers are served by a DNS that is updated every 15 minutes...some update at every change.
