Pop-Up with Spyware attached!!!
Posted: Thu Dec 25, 2003 11:23 pmI'm not going to blame anyone because they may not be aware of this, or it may have been just a coincidence.
After connecting to the net my browse opened to the Sim-Outhouse as normal, I left here and went to Akemi's site then to Simviation, finally to AVhistory. While at Simviation a pop-up came up that dclared I had spyware on my PC. I dually closed the popup but noticed a couple of other windows open in the background that could not be closed manually, one was called windows. I had to close these from the Taskmanager. This should have set off alarm bells in my head but I failed to catch it. When I was done at AVHistory I hit home and was directed to the same pop-up and again the Windows window opened up. Before I could close things out again notepad pops open as does mediaplayer, I also found my homepage setting had been changed to the pop-ups URL. All of this is tryong to sell me a pop-up stopper.
This happened with my firewall in place, Zero Knowlege Freedom Firewall.
