sign-in and download problems

Postby propnut » Sat Jun 14, 2008 6:45 am

Good morning,

Since the change on the site I have experienced several problems.
I sign in on the new link as a member and go to a download link. I immediately get the non-members page ( it resizes my browser page also). I try the download and I get "download. php" and download a 2227 bit file that leads to nowhere.

My set-up is;
windows 32 bit xp
firefox-latest update
avg antivirus-can disable,same result
zonealarm-disabled,same result
free download manager-disabled, same result
only try one download at a time because I am on dial-up.

My windows firewall is disabled.

Please help if you can, I am missing all those great downloads!

Thank you,
Paul

I get a similar thing. Sign in to the forums, leave and go to downloads and have to sign in again due to be only able to download at non members speed. Once I have signed in again it is all ok.

Hi Sorry to hear you're having problems

Are you signing in on http://www.simviation.com/members/identify.php ?

If so can you tell me exactly what page you then go to & what file. I will try to trace your movements & see if I can replicate your problem

The known issue is when you log in by simply going to /members.html or any of the members pages without logging in through the new script.-

If you are definitely logging in with 'identify.php' then I will certainly see why this is because it should not be a problem.

The forums & member areas are 2 completely different scripts. The forums are open to all but still need signing in (or staying in as I do & never have to sign in)

The 2 areas are separate as they are, in effect, 2 different sites.

Hi Pete'
I just came back on line and read your first response. I clicked on the link you provided and signed in, then tried to download the new Aeroflot file.
What I got was this (http://www.simviation.com/simviation/download.php?ID=). I deleted the ID number for this forum.

The sign on solved my first problem but as you can see I am still not able to download the file.

Thank you for your time,
Paul

http://www.simviation.com/simviation/do ... php?ID=355

That is the right link to download that aircraft. It may be a little slow connecting (one of our slow times for an unknown reason - it happens & then always clears up) so maybe you need to be patient> Ihad to wait about 7 secs before it started to download.

(same link for members & non members - but members get unrestricted speed)

It worked for me - I signed in as a random member & experienced all OK with good speed once the d/l started.

Let me know if you have continued problems. Thansk

Good morning, Pete

Sorry it has taken  so long to get back to this. I am still having some problems with my sign in and downloads but have found a work around.

Ignoring my bookmarks I open Simviation in firefox. If I go to the non-members page and try to download a file my browser gets resized. I click on "download" and the file is loaded into my Free Download Manager where I can download the file.

If I sign in as a member on the intro page or the main page and try to download a file my download manager only gets a partial address ( as mentioned before) and I can not download the file. If I turn off my download manager and use the downloader built in Firefox the file source is complete and I can download the file.

I have tried several other download managers including a Firefox plugin called Downthemall  and I get the same results as mentioned with FDM.

This is not an urgent problem since I still can download but I thought  I would mention my research results in case someone else can use the information.

Thank you,
Paul
