Recurring download problems

Postby RAFAIR100 » Tue Dec 19, 2006 11:57 am

A week or so ago, I had download problems.      Without me doing anything, the problem cleared.     Now, it's back again - this time with the G4M2 Betty at page 64 of FS2004 Vintage Downloads.    I have cleared out my temporary internet files, and confirmed that my browser security settings are at default.  When I left click on the selected aircraft to download nothing happens.    The aircraft name doesn't 'grey-out' and that's it.        Lots of irritation but no download.       What have I done to deserve this?       In fifteen+ years of downloading, this has never happened before.

Hi - the link seems to work both in the members & non members sections.

Trouble with just one link on that page? Odd!

A couple of suggestions:

1. Use another browser Firefox or IE (to eliminate the browser as the problem)
2. Turn off firewall just for this link (no need to have firewall turned off but this would eliminate the firewall as the problem)
3. Disable any download manager (d/l accellerators will fail to connect in the free site but can be used on the members area)
4. Re-boot - Often a reboot is the best cure for many PC problems that suddenly appear.
5. If you're running a router - re-boot that.

Let me know if you make progress.

Pete,   Thank you for taking the time and trouble to answer.       I've downloaded from Simviation for years with no problems - until now!

1 Checked with firewall off;
2 I don't use a download manager;
3 I have re-booted umpteen times;
4 No router.

Odd thing I've discovered.     I can't download in the usual way but, if I right click on my selection and then click on 'open', I get the download right away.     I don't know why and, so long as I can go on downloading, I'll leave it to Mulder and Scully to figure out why.      The truth is out there !!!!
