Hi all,
not sure if anyone is interested but I have put together a short video tutorial on how to do basic formation flying in FS9 and FSX.
It can be found here....

Thank you. I never knew how that was done in FSX/Prepar3d.

The recording drive and the flight sim dries are SSDs. The video card is more than adequate, but my CPU is only an I5-2400K at 3.3GHz.

I'm not sure if that is fast enough.

But whether it is or not - Thank you for the well done tutorial.

Well done... ;)

I learned the basics of formation flying on what is the title of your avatar...DHC-1...DeHavilland of Canada 1 "Chipmunk"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilla ... 1_Chipmunk

Enjoyed aerobatics and formation flying on:

http://www.warplane.com/vintage-aircraf ... craftId=31

First learned on the old DeHavilland Canada Tiger Moth we had at the old homestead...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Tiger_Moth

Having done aerobatics and formation flying on many types, a cheap fun machine is an American Champion Citabria and Citabria is Airbatic spelt backwards... ;)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Champion_Citabria

I honestly believe that prior to receiving one's Private Pilots Certificate several hours of Aerobatics should be part of the curriculum... ;)

Again a well put together video and thanks for taking the time to do that for us...very much enjoyed...

P.S. I still believe the world is flat and enjoy seeing the trees get bigger when you push the nose down and when you pull the nose up the trees get smaller...

Great job and one of the better tutorials on the subject. I try to tell everyone that it's easier in the RW than looking at a flat 2D screen with zero "seat of the pants".

Only suggestion to add for the basics, make sure the to clear the weather or at least same FS weather theme is selected for both recording and playback.

Hope to see some more of the fast mover form, I have been meaning to record a rotary wing form tutorial for the FS rotorheads.

Thanks, Victory.

Clearing the clouds might help me in making a video.

Hi all,
thanks for the feedback :D
I find that I can run formation flights ok in FSX using FS Recorder but the frame rate bombs out when I try and make a video, hence all the video was made in FS9.
My RW formation experience has mainly been on Bulldogs but I normally fly a Chippy.
Some FS aircraft are much easier to fly formation in than others. Obviously variations in the flight modelling come into play.

Cheers
