Beautiful.

And to think, some of you guys don't like clouds.

But truthfully, finding your way with instruments under such conditions, gives me a thrill when I break cloud cover and see an airport where it should be. Or I simply die. :D

Make no mistake though, If I were flying that plane for real, you might stand a better chance jumping out the door with a sheet for a parachute. :D

Goodly afternoon all... <<u

What really makes these sort of Approaches or Departures interesting is doing them in formation.

I enjoyed flying in Instrument Conditions and doing Formation Flying with some Aerobatic Maneuver's thrown in for good measure.

I always did admire the Fleet Air Arm Pilots from the Royal Navy and Royal Canadian Navy who landed on their Aircraft Carriers during bad weather and at night.

Now the ideal aircraft to fly during nasty weather of course is the Helicopter.

You just stop and hover, perhaps lower a crewmember down to see what is below you.... :o

Following the video, one person replied;..."Idiot"...

....another person replied; "...best you make sure that the GPWS works...". (Ground proximity warning system).

Under those weather conditions, would Air Traffic Control at the airport have allowed such a landing to take place?

Somebody would have to have been very sure of the height of the cloud base at the precise area!.... ...!

I wouldn't be without my "Radio Altimeter" in all my Sim Aircraft!.... :D ...!

Hi Paul

I could see this being a GCA (Ground Control Approach).

It is hard to tell because of the music.

GCA's are still practiced by the military in many countries and NATO.

A GCA can put your wheels right on the runway.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground-controlled_approach

It could also be a GPS Approach.

Doug... :D ....

I look at that Video and I cant help remembering the excellent video which Blade (Dwayne) posted, regarding the major cause of air accidents....>>>

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7i3ta-ndcU4

I remember the warnings in that film every time I load up my Flight Sim, and observe the weather at my location, my destination, and in between!

Bad weather is something I keep well away from, both in the air, and on my Motor-bike!.... ....!

Hi Paul... <<u

Yes I commented on that Video Dwayne posted, again it is well worth having a look at by everyone here... ;)

Flying all comes down to Education, Training and Experience.

Folks who use Flying Machines as a tool to aid them in their careers, like doctors, salespeople etc. need to follow up on Education and Training to keep current on the equipment they fly and spend some time yearly with a current Flight Instructor.

I can honestly say Paul that during my seven plus decades of aviating, Flying was always a Career and not a Job.

My belief has always been when a Occupation becomes a Job and not a Career, it is time to move on.

Like many others I can say I had a Great Career.... ;)

Great video Doug. That must be the kind of landing that makes you feel like your worth you're worth your oats. <<u

Thanks Steve...much appreciated... ;)

Myself, I always enjoyed Instrument Flying, Aerobatics, Formation Flying and Instructing.

Aviating our own little family bugsmashers in light snow or rain never bothered me at all, I rather enjoyed it.

But, it all comes down to Education, Training and Experience.
